Is it possible that Dabo and Riley thinking they could just be bland, not open up the play book and just out talent duke to a victory trying to not show to much of the offense to fsu?

What exactly do you think they were holding back? Did they tell the WRs to not get separation?
And then there’s the defense. 0 sacks. Against Duke.

then I’d say we were successful. Leonard was 13 for 27 so less than 50%. And 175 passing yards didn’t beat us either.
I wish you 3rd graders would go on back to class now.

Its Duke. shutup. this defense is average at best. specially at ends the linebackers are out of shape the secondary looks good.

I think it is possible, but likely this would have occurred prior to the game. That is, we probably have some more aggressive/exotic plays that were practiced during camp, but left off the Duke game plan.

Somewhat true, they didnt install everything they have for Duke, I’m told the TE book of digs is full and they didnt use it.

I think they had a game plan to keep things close to the vest, use short throws and power running game to wear down duke up front and then lean on them in the 2nd half and beat them without exposing much of the new offense....they thought they could get through the first 3 weeks unscathed without giving fsu game tape....
The turnovers cost them and the plan bit them in the ###

That is what they did last year against South Carolina and again two costly fumbles cost Clemson the game and like last Monday there were an assortment of other breakdowns that caused problems. All trying to keep the game plan vanilla before the next big game. Same results - a loss. Hopefully their plan will work against Florida State.

I was thinking something similar. With a new OC and relatively new QB running a new (but eerily similar looking, so far) system, maybe they just haven't developed a comfort level with the full play book.
Having said that, Duke beat us, plain and simple.

Well if they were using the entire playback we are in trouble. I’m pretty sure they thought they would waltz in with a handful of plays and walk the dog against Duke.

Against Charleston Southern that would have been good strategy but not against a conference opponent which won 9 games last year.
AAs to opening the playbook I think they must have left it on the bus!

Though it’s suggested a lot on TNet, we wouldn’t hide the ability to get a WR in space all game. Especially a 7-6 game at halftime on the road against a team on the rise when one of our goals is win the opener. No.

mastered and a ton of those they struggled to complete along with many that need polish. He likes to put them in a position where they believe they either win the down or lose the game.
