Well, surprisingly, it sure looked like they did tonight against a ranked team. Admittedly, they still lost in the end in heartbreaking fashion, but it was a close game all the way to the end, with Tech winning a thriller in set 5 19-17. It stings not to get the win after being up 2-0, but that game was much closer than I expected. Looked like 2 pretty evenly matched teams. After how the first 5 games went, I fully expected the Tigers to get swept out of Atlanta in 3 sets, but they gave Georgia Tech all they could handle. Hopefully that can translate into some better play going forwards.
I think the new/upgraded facility will help with recruiting, specifically in state talent. Unfortunately if you look at most in state talent they either go to scar or out of state. Our big 3, ccu, clemson, and scar, only have 11 total players from SC, 8 of them playing for scar, 2 for ccu, and 1 for Clemson. Jervey before the remodel was barely on par with some of our smaller in state schools. The new upgrade to the gym itself and the locker room/player areas should help attract some of the talent we have locally. Just my humble opinion of course
