We never know what kind of defensive plan Venables will have for our opponents. I looked out there and saw three down linemen and wondered how we were going to get any pressure on Mond. A&M's five interior offensive linemen and our three down linemen were so close at times it looked as though they were in a huddle. Mond, particularly in the first half, had plenty of time to pass but our LBs and DBs were covering the A&M receivers like the dew covers Dixie. And when Venables sent the pressure, it was a thing of beauty. Our defensive effort in the first half was a textbook example. And I was not even aware of how well they had played until I saw the stats.
I believe Venables is the best defensive coach in college football and I hope he spends the remainder of his career here at Clemson. He is definitely worth a head coach's salary. Venables is another one of Dabo's prized recruits.

Agree Mr. Joe , he is a treasured man in Tigertown .
I still have no idea why Stoops kept his brother and let Brent Venables go ... beyond just lazily blaming it on nepotism .
In any event , our gain and then some !

Absolutely right. Each week is a treasure watching what magic he pulls out of his hat. Equally as entertaining is watching his glee when his defense dominates. Venables is with his weight in gold.

I bet he loves it . They mention him ( if not by name ) almost every time we're on a televised game .

The lack of DL pressure is hard to adjust to but #### if it wasn't effective.

Yea man. I understand. Sort of took me a bit to realize, “wait a minute, we are dominating them on defense” cause I wasn’t seeing Ferrell or Bryant comin’ at em every play.

When Dabo was first hired he would help signal in plays to the offense
Never seemed right and glad he quickly turned to delegating to others
But for coach V it just fits
And so much fun to watch
