As the late Ken Burger said in a recent interview on SC Public Radio, "South Carolina has a century long history of losing." That is the only tradition the program has. Spurrier brought it out of being an insignificant southern football program, but even he could not sustain the winning situation.
No coach in their right mind would accept the responsibility of following Holtz and Spurrier except for what money they could make long term.
Go Tigers!

That's just laughable. What stories could they tell?

About that time they won a division? That's not exactly ancient history. It must be that ACC Championship in whenever it was. What about that time the beat Clemson 5 times in a row. Woooh now that's a tale for the ages.

reason they keep doing it. THEY ARE IDIOTS. Take alumni out of the equation. I am sure the school does have some decent programs. Anybody more than 20 years old that hitched their wagon to that manure pile clearly has decision making handicaps.

This is how you create propaganda. You say it so much that real history does not matter.
Good God. They didn't even win a Bowl Game until the 1990's!

South Carolina baseball since 1970: 30 NCAA Tournament appearances including a streak of 14 straight / 11 College World Series berths / 4 National Championship game appearances / National Champions in 2010 and 2011. The Gamecocks hold 3 NCAA records for postseason success: The most consecutive NCAA tournament wins (22) / The most consecutive wins in the College World Series (12) / The most consecutive home NCAA tournament wins (29). Since 1992 The Gamecocks have competed in the SEC and have 3 SEC titles / 1 SEC tournament title / 6 SECE titles.
Most sincerely,
CC

Clemson has won a bunch of Natty's in Pershing Rifles, but I don't think that would help us land a new Football coach one way or the other.
