tonight at GLA. Never seen them before, been listening to them since early 00's. Pretty pumped about it, even though I might miss the beginning of the show due to Dad duties. Apparently I am going solo too, oh well.
Bought the tickets a few months ago, let wife know. Reminded her a couple weeks ago when we were planning for May events. Reminded her last week when we were talking about the upcoming weeks. Reminded her last weekend when talking about the upcoming week. Got told last night that me going to the show was inconvenient.
FML. Midweek shows are terrible when kids are involved in almost anything.
Skipping tomorrow's show though because it is my son's birthday.

That was also the last time I did mushrooms to the point where I almost lost control.
Thank god I had a water bottle in my hand the whole time. That feeling of just 10oz of water sloshing back and forth in the bottle kept me just grounded enough to where I didn't totally freak the eff out.
I did run into an old high school acquaintance at the show while I was buying more water. I panicked. To try and play off the fact that I was bombed out of my gourd, I decided to ask her questions about herself to see how she was doing. Keep the attention there. That's the safe angle. ... Unfortunately, though, in my effort to play it cool, I asked her about 40 questions in the span of 20 seconds, so she just kind of looked back at me like "good god, he is fuggggged up."
To help ease the tension, I tried to turn to my friend who was in line with me, thinking I could introduce him, show her that I have friends, I'm a responsible human being with real life human friends in public. ... Unfortunately, my friend was equally annihilated, and when I turned to introduce him, he was crouched to the floor, hugging the handrail of a nearby staircase.
Without a word, I just walked away, collected my friend from the floor without breaking stride, and returned to the show with the precious new bottle of water in hand.
To this day, I'm convinced that high school friend thinks I'm a meth addict.
It was a good show, though.

If you could go ahead and forward me the email address for the dean’s office of your school or your employer, that would be great. No reason in particular.

Have you ever thought back to how that delay changed your life?

Either for better or worse?
Like, my divorce was the best thing to ever happen to me because it led to moving to Atlanta, then getting laid off (because I moved away from work), which led to moving to Charleston and the best three years of my life as a single man, which led to meeting my wife, which led to a better life than I could have ever imagined for myself.
Maybe things would have worked out great if I never got married to Wife 1 in the first place. But because it did, I'm incredibly happy in life.

It was a major black mark on my residency applications, and to this day I still have to answer to it when changing jobs and stuff, a gap in training always stands out. I knew it was going to be harder to match in what I wanted to do and it was, but because of that I worked 100x harder than anyone else in clinical years and residency. When I came back it was with a vengeance and drive I didn’t have before, and ended up matching at my #1 for residency and fellowship, and have my dream job now. I’m not really sure where the alternative path would have led, but this one has been ok.
Corny can still choke on a million rhino coc>ks though.

react that way? Was he connected or something? I'm surprised any school would respond at all, let alone impose discipline, based on a complaint from some rando based on message board banter.
It's not like most professional school students are teetotalers.

“Social media policy.” Corny is a nobody, truly a fu>cking loser, but I learned later he was working some desk job in the admissions office at USC Salkehatchie at the time, so he knew who to email posts to ie deans office people.

the experience of feeling defeat.
Part of the Tiggity Theory of Relativity (TTR). The lower you have fallen, the more you appreciate elevation. The poorer you've been, the more you appreciate wealth. The lonlier you've been, the more you appreciate love. The sadder you've been, the more you appreciate happiness.
Yada yada.
