Making jokes about Christie's weight? Really? It's one thing up in here in The Jounge, but I expect better from the President. I hate it; Trump is right about a lot of things and has some outstanding characteristics that could make him a great leader, but he absolutely nullifies all of it when he runs his stupid mouth. We have much better choices, and I have to wonder about people who think it's funny or in any way acceptable.

Name one.
Jennifer Anniston is single and a choice. But she ain’t the one you getting to nail.
He has such a following that you cannot beat him. If he runs, he wins. He wins a second term without COVID. Hands down. People just wanted change.

Maybe the primary, but I have my doubts there, too. But the general? Not a chance. He didn't win in 2020, and his support is even weaker now. And, Biden has not been nearly as bad as the Very Online niche has made it out to be when it comes to kitchen table issues. Nothing about the midterms and the special elections since 2020 have indicated a fundamental shift to the Right. If Biden can limp to the finish line, and dumps Kamala, it'll be a cake walk against Trump.

"kitchen table" issues and what you can afford to put on it.
I DO believe the GOP has to come to some middle ground (15/16 week, health of the mother, incest/ rape exceptions) on abortion but I don't see the votes from independents going to Biden this time around... Nobody likes a privileged crook.

But my number one kitchen table issue as an independent is being able to vote. Another 4 years of Biden would suck, but at least I know I’ll be able to vote again in 4 years. If Trump wins I don’t know if I’d ever get to vote again. Judging by his actions, I have to assume he would try to continue staying in power for as long as possible. I’ll vote for pretty much any Republican this time, but if Trump is the nominee I’ll be voting for Biden.

Please help.
What inclines a person to think that Trump would be able to prevent any person from voting?
What did Trump do or say to create that fear?
Opposition to ballot harvesting, Voter ID, mail in balloting in which signature matching standards are too subjected to qualitative judgement to evenly enforce?
(*). Every time that an election precinct counts a fraudulent ballot, then the impact of each legitimate vote is discounted.
Again, please help.

Based on the data we have from his previous presidency, I have to assume he will not care what the vote count is this time either. He’ll cook up some new scheme to try to remain president.

Trump had better reason to suspect voter fraud than any previous presidential candidate who lost.
Hillary claimed voter fraud via Russian collusion. You know, what turned out to be the FBI, DoJ, DNI, and CIA coordination with the Democrat party to create the Steele dossier, with FBI paying C.Steele $1MM in Oct 2016 … BEFORE the 2016 election had taken place … to ‘prove’ that Trump had cheated in the 2016 election just in case he won. Democrat party’s ‘election management’ outside firm GBI Strategies (with director Glen Bell being the central figure) to fabricate votes in several states, with MI (which Trump ended up winning anyways) being prominent in the ‘Hillary cheat’ endeavor.
2020 revealed election night security footage from Fulton County, GA in which all election on-site personnel, including election monitors, were removed from the room in which absentee ballots were fed into vote counting machines. The pretext for this evacuation was a broken water pipe. Shortly after the election people who fed the ballots into the voting machines re-entered the room, but the election monitors were denied access to return. As if by magic, the election workers pulled box after box from a hidden place out and began hurriedly feeding ballots into the vote counting machines. Trump ‘lost’ the GA vote; GA Secretary of State conducted an ‘audit’ to investigate themselves for election problems. Boy, isn’t that credible. The organization that presides over an election fraud investigates itself.
OK, enough for now.
The reason for sharing these historical events with you is for enlightenment purposes. Maybe you liked Trump prior to 2020 (&/or 2016); maybe you didn’t. But the accusations that Trump will ‘cook up some new scheme’ implies that he did such previously. All Trump did was to vigorously challenge the election fraud that was organized against him.

But maybe we get used to it. Maybe we already have. Gas prices go up, we complain, and then the prices become our new normal. We figure how to adapt. Inflation isn't new, and we seem to be over the worst of it. Maybe Trump finds a solid message about inflation. I don't think he does.

Yeah I wish he would take the high road more often but once you're falsely accused of being a Russian spy for years, with nothing happening to the people who made it all up, it tends to make someone a bit less tolerant of people like Christie who we all know is a blowhard.

Oh. So Trump was "exonerated" of being not a Russian spy, but of being unacceptably compromised by the Russians?
Really? Let's hit the wayback machine, then.
Mueller did not even remotely say "Trump is innocent." What he did in fact say was he "could not establish" that Trump personally colluded with the Russians. Mostly because the guys that Mueller didn't just establish had indeed colluded with the Russians, but who Mueller also sent to jail for that collusion, Trump's campaign manager Paul Manafort and Trump's little gnome Roger Stone, wouldn't point the finger at Donald personally. And then, strangely, were subsequently pardoned by President Donald Trump. Which seems to be the exact point where Mueller's investigation hit a wall, and he "could not establish" anything further.
Interesting. It's almost like it's hard to do what the DOJ usually does, which is use the threat of a long stint in jail to flip conspirators against their boss...when their boss has the power to pardon them. But you'll forgive anyone who doesn't consume Fox News through both eyeballs 24/7 for still suspecting that Trump just might have had a hand in what his underlings were proven in courtrooms to be up to on his behalf.

The ‘we know that Trump colluded with the Russians, despite the govt being unable to convict him’ narrative might have garnered support from outside the TDS cult, except for one (HUGE) factor.
The govt prosecution had the monumental act of enormous prosecutorial misconduct by creating false evidence to ‘win’ their case against Trump.
That ‘well, we (the prosecution) just made one error, everything else was not synthesized evidence’ dog don’t hunt.
If there was anything more than just Trump having done business with Russian oligarchs during his time as a private sector builder, property manager, and realtor, then where was it?
Sure, Trump flipped a W.Palm mansion (at big profit) in ~ 2004 too. Russian oligarch. Gossip worthy? Sure. Smoking gun? Really.
Trump sold high yield bonds to numerous investors to finance the construction of hotels / casinos in Atlantic City, with Russian oligarchs being among the buyers of the high yield bonds. Building project doesn’t work out, Trump organization files bankruptcy, bond holders get Pennie’s in the dollar. That’s the risk of buying high yield bonds. Big money investors know this. Including Russian oligarchs.
As far as Russian oligarchs threatening to send hit men to Mar a Lago (with Putin needing to agree to this beforehand), then the oligarchs forgot to get their high rise malfunctioning windows fixed first. Those that didn’t die from defenestration syndrome are busy contracting with the V.Putin Construction Company to get those malfunctioning windows fixed.
Good job in diverting attention away from Biden and redirecting it to Trump.

about "effective leader", at least he can finish a thought without checking his cue cards.
You bring up "checks and balances", it's Biden who is circumventing them with a corrupt DOJ, trying to skirt Congress on the student loan BS, and drug us into an open-ended MIC proxy war in Ukraine.
Illegal immigration this year is already at 6X the number it was for all of 2020...
Inflation was at a 40-year high... He managed to accomplish 10+ years worth of inflation in 2...
Crime is accelerating at unprecedented levels...

Looks like I had wasted my time responding to your previous post regarding your concern that Trump would ‘cook up some other scheme to remain in power.’
Attempts to use humor to cover up for either (1) obvious ignorance about election details -or- (2) motivation to pretend that election details don’t exist tells it all.

Trump voters from 2020 didn’t think hard enough to burn up buildings and smash-&-grab merchandise across the country … as their betters from ANTIFA and BLM did during their Biden for President rallies.
Thank goodness that at least some of the Trump supporters had thought to defend themselves beforehand fo protect themselves from the aforementioned ANTIFA and BLM peaceful protesters. Thinkers.
ANTIFA and BLM voters think that they will go ahead with more arson and smash-and-grab rallies for the Democrats. Thinkers, Democrat style.

Can't wait for the inevitable lamentations of those in big cities who will have to board up their businesses in anticipation of a Trump victory, should it ever look like that's a possibility. Funny how nobody has to board up businesses when they think a Republican is gonna lose, only when they win. It's almost like one sides supporters are made up of a lot more criminals than the others. Imagine that.

Yeah, why does he have to run his mouth about things like that? He should, instead, talk about the corrupt liars on the left that took over his entire term with bullchit.
The more that Biden looks like a criminal (more every day) and the more that Trump looks like he was cheated by the MSM and social media (their actions are well documented, but not the effects), the more tolerance people will have over his 'issues.'

"[Trump] says his supporters would stay loyal even if he happened to commit a capital offense.
'I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?' Trump remarked at a campaign stop at Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa. 'It's, like, incredible.'"

Biden, Kamala, pretty much all Democrats say stupid stuff and make terrible policies.

Trump being unfit has nothing to do with Biden being a corrupt, senile clown. Don't mistake my problems with Trump as any kind of endorsement of Biden.
It's mind bottling that it could be between these two again.

Your foolish argument is that Biden's admin sucks (yes, we all know it does) so der herp we need more Trump!
Trump is the imbecile who got us to this #### Biden admin and you think the solution is put him back? We watched he and his cronies try to overturn a legitimate election so he could instill a dictatorship.
Yes, everyone knows the Biden admin sucks. You're a kid pounding sand while you make this argument over and over.
Another Trump admin would be a disaster.

Aug 9, 2023, 4:12 PM
|
|
Is like a Gamecawk fan asking, "When have we not been a football school?" It means the person has such delusion and cluelessness about the situation that laying out information to him is pointless.
A better question is why do you think Trump should be in office again over any other candidate out there? You said you didn't support him, and I remember you criticizing him during his time in office. Why are you suddenly his fan now?
You were literally on here during the Trump years slamming his administration and now you're going to pretend you didn't do it.

Still don't like him as a person. However, this administration is exponentially worse than his, especially considering all the FAKE conspiracies and conjured impeachments he had to fight through... It was late in his administration when I began to realize who was actually at fault.
I'm not a "fan"... I AM a realist. T-Rump is going to win the GOP nomination and I DON'T want another 4 years of blatant corruption that the intel community has created when they installed Biden in the White House.

Trump is not the only option or the only solution to Biden. You also again forget that it was Trump's trainwreck administration that got us Biden. Biden doesn't win against a viable Republican.
And if you didn't see how corrupt the Trump admin was as well, you too have fallen into partisanship. It's easy to see that both Trump's and Biden's administration's are corrupt.

Trump is not capable of turning USA into dictatorship
1

Every time I read about or hear from a person who expresses fear that Trump will be a dictator, I know that person has either been brainwashed by manipulative friends who know that isn’t true -or- that the person doesn’t understand the power of the federal bureaucracy and the establishment political parties which work to keep each other in power.
Neither Trump nor RFK, Jr … nor Ross Perot (were he still alive) … has the control of the federal bureaucracy (which includes the US military); therefore, dictatorship is an impossibility.
For establishment politicians, dictatorship isn’t desirable. The presidents from that pool know that the federal bureaucracy could ruin them.
We witnessed during Trump’s first term how the federal bureaucracy constantly threw banana peels in his path.
Xxxxxxx
The historical analogy is this: (The violent aspect of the Soviet characters is not relevant here. The political power aspect is the purpose of the analogy.)
Trump. RFK, Jr, and Ross Perot types are like Leon Trotsky. Trotsky made inspiring speeches and elicited hope among the public. When attempting to exert power, the Soviet bureaucracy didn’t go along.
Pence, Biden, Obama, GWB, Romney are the Stalin (and Putin) types. Stalin wasn’t especially inspiring, although he wrote several ‘mainstream’ Soviet propaganda papers when he was just a lowly member of the first Central Committee of the Bolshevik Party. From that position, Stalin quietly cultivated relationships within the Soviet bureaucracy while Trotsky was making speeches with much fanfare. When Stalin finished his cultivation of the bureaucracy, Stalin shocked the outside world with his rise to power by stepping over Trotsky. The outside world hardly knew who Stalin was.
Pretty much the same path with Putin. He worked the insides of the Russian bureaucracy. His public persona made him an unexpected candidate to replace the charismatic public figure Boris Yeltsin.
Xxxxxxx
Americans who don’t understand anything more than the most basic roles of the various federal agencies and departments simply don’t understand this. Because the bureaucracies always take a quiet backseat to the politicians, the power of our federal bureaucracy (in which all but the politically appointed leaders are not subjected to term limits)

There is no basis for that statement.
I understand that long posts which reference historical details are hard for some people to comprehend. My apologies for not being able to retort to short, mindless posts with a response that is devoid of contextual details. Details can be lengthy; accusations are usually brief.
OK, this is the cue call to make the final comment in this sub-string so that ‘victory’ can be claimed.
I’m done.

from DNC orchestrated BS and then falsely impeached... but he's the 'bad guy'...?
Then he was impeached for something they probably knew at the time that Biden had been actually doing.
This BS doesn't just happen in a vacuum... It's an organized effort. None of the neocons seem to want to explore it. Get's too close to home.

He says stupid things because he has the intelligence of a four year old.
That's why he lies constantly, never holds himself accountable for anything, always blames others for his actions, gives petty and insulting nicknames to his enemies instead of debating policy... and oh yeah, tells the country to drink bleach and send UV lights into their lungs to cure COVID.
If you're ever wondering what stupid thing Trump will do next, just imagine the most selfish action he could take, regardless of how it might damage those around him, and that's exactly what he'll do.

Trump makes me mad, too. Yet, our state of mind is critical

Many people feel the same as you.
Trump’s childish name calling … even for sacks of garbage such as Chris Christie, who hired Christopher Wray as his ‘fixer’ for then NJ Governor Christie’s ‘Bridge Gate’ (unindicted crime to interfere with commerce via the contrived need for the lane closer over George Washington Bridge) … nevertheless also makes me mad.
The operative state of mind with regard to much of Trump’s behavior (for me and everyone) is “mad.”
Being “mad” is an emotional reaction. It’s hard to manage emotion and keep it from interfering with cognition.
Despite regularly being mad at Trump, there is no doubt that his policies and (since the end of his first term) determination to root out the corruption in the extremely politicized federal bureaucracy makes Trump my favorite candidate by far. That is the cognitive perspective.
George Patton was an ash whole. Nobody liked his personality; he made people mad. The bad behavior stink around George Patton was more than simply tolerated once it became clear that his military intelligence and toughness in battle convinced Eisenhower and Bradley that Patton was worth it.
