Update on Honor and Dawes...

3

Jan 29, 2023, 7:25 AM

Just looked up the stats on these 2 former Tigers.

Both lead their teams in Minutes Played this season.

Al Amir Dawes is averaging 11.6 points a game at Seton Hall and is their leading scorer.

Nick Honor is averaging 8.5 points a game (6th on Mizzou) but leads in assists at 3.1.

I hope they are enjoying themselves at their new schools but Clemson has not missed them like I thought they would.

Dawes with similar stats as he had at Clemson. Low assist numbers and takes more 3's than 2's. Do not miss him, but hope he's doing well.

Honor has been a really good contribution for mizzou. Looked great in a stunning win over Iowa st. Mizzou is putting together quite the run this season and will earn a high seed. They tend to run a similar offense as fsu was forced to run this season. Happy for nick. Found the right place.

I thought losing Dawes would really hurt the Tigers. He was a big city playground kind of point guard and I have always thought you needed that kind of players...... and I was dead wrong. BB has done a remarkable job this season and I now believe there is more to come. This is a solid team Clemson puts on the floor. Even with the recent injuries the play has been big time. Some will never agree but I have noticed a well coached team EVERY game.

Had either stayed…

Hunter would not have been given the keys to the car. Hope they are happy. Not saying we couldn’t use them at times, but staying in their former role at the starting point would have hindered the team’s full potential and stunted the growth of the younger guys.

Would we have even pursued Galloway if either had stayed?

Clemson BB is in a much better place since Dawes and Honor moved on. Both were good, streaky shooters who could light it up on occasion but Dawes was a turnover machine and Honor was a defensive liability due to his lack of height. They were replaced by 6'3" kids, more athletic, better shooters and Chase Hunter has become the leader of the pack along with Tyson. I sincerely hope for the best for Dawes and Honor and thank them for their years at Clemson but we are a much better at guard and as a team with the players we have now.
