I get so tired of hearing the ignorant Coots saying “If we were in the ACC, we’d be Conference Champions”.
Well, you were in the ACC, for 19 YEARS, and you have only one Championship trophy.
You have an all-time losing record against the ACC conference as a whole (179 – 222).
Of the 10 current ACC teams that you have faced, you only have a winning record against 3 teams.
TEAM – WON –LOST
Clemson – 42-67
Duke – 17-24
Florida State – 3-16
Georgia Tech – 9-12
Miami – 6-8
UNC – 19-34
NC State – 27-26
Pitt – 1-3
Virginia – 21-12
Wake – 34-20
You couldn’t win in the Southern Conference, you couldn’t win in the ACC, and you can’t win in the SEC. The only benefit you have going for you now is that you get to make more money getting your butt stomped every Saturday. I’d suggest moving over to an FCS school, or maybe to a Division II school, at least you might start winning some championships.

The problem is that they recruit solely based on

the fact that they play in the SEC. When that's your primary recruiting tool, you can't act like you would be as "good" as you are now in the ACC. So not only are you bad, and would probably do the same in both conferences with your current team, but you wouldn't even be able to keep this level of recruiting if you switched conferences.

the 21-12 to Virginia has to be the saddest of all. Prior to George Welsh, they were just beyond horrible. Clemson had never lost to them until then.
