the ACC ever added an extra year of probation to anyone's NCAA probation? Miami's or FSU's or GT's or State's or UMD's?
Anyone at all?
If not, the extra year in '82 was not fair, but pretty silly to equate to today.

The extra year was flat out due to jealousy and spitefulness

Clearly little man syndrome taking a rabbit punch at the big brother. In the grand scheme of things, it only serves to prove what back-stabbing POS Swofturd, UNCheat and Puke are.

here. I'll be looking forward to David Hood's investigation on the subject. Maybe, we'll finally know all the facts.

Boosters out of control I think was the main focus point with us WAYYYYY back then. I don't think any wrong doing was ever proved against Danny Ford or any other coach on the Clemson staff....

I thought Charlie Pell was guilty of most of it other than the booster stuff as you pointed out.

Ford was directly cited in two instances, but most of it

occurred on Pell's watch.
I remember one of the charges against Ford was for paying a local dentist (along with an assistant) for some work he had done on a former player. The way I heard it was that the player left the team and left down, leaving an unpaid dental bill, which Danny wound up paying.
The bottom line is, a lot of stuff went on then, and Ford was part of it, and Clemson was guilty. However, it was stuff that ALL successful football programs had been doing for years. Yes. Clemson was wrong, and coach Ford was wrong. The part that sux is how hard we got hammered by the NCAA and then the ACC, while so many who had built their entire programs by committing such violations continued to get off scott-free.

Exactly. UNC was our toughest competition during that period

Swofford thought that if he could cripple us, then UNC would move up in the football world and the UNC chidren of the pines would crown him King of the Holes. He would be a legend for having basketball and baseball alone at the pinnacle of the conference.

UNC had a couple of pretty good teams but you're wrong

about them being our biggest competition back then. After the '81 season, UNC did exactly squat and Maryland became a powerhouse with Boomer. By 1985, UNC was a joke; much like they are now.

No Conference Has Ever Done That

As far as I know, that was the only time any conference has ever added penalties on top of the NCAA penalties. It's obvious it was done by Swofford because UNC was expected to be ACC champs or even more in 1981, and Clemson ruined that. UNC's 10-8 loss to Clemson was their only conference loss that year.

Agree - UNC was our toughest ACC opponent back then!

And it was a spiteful envious act led by Swofford, who probably awakes with cold sweat at our anger toward him! Should be locker room poster every time we play them! and the other teams who voted with them.

The ACC added an extra year because we didn't fire Danny Ford. NC schools were threaten because a non NC school was making headlines. To this day UNC/Duke still suck.

They knew their school had no way to stop Clemson with Ford. When they didn't get what they wanted entirely; they tried to cripple us long enough to surpass us.
