Despite our recent recruiting success, we could certainly use more perception on the offensive line. Clemson has always struggled to recruit the top offensive line recruits in the country.

This is insanely stupid. Since the playoff Era began, not one team has won the title without a team ranked in top 5 most talented teams. No team has won in the first round without a top 10 team outside of TCU. You know how they calculate that? The percentage of 5 stars and 4 stars vs. others. You know where heart and drive gets you? Getting humiliated by 60 points in the national title game.
Talent matters and 5 stars make it far more often than not.

That is 2023. They are on about same trajectory as we are for 2024. Bama will never lack talent. At least Saban keeps his guys in line as opposed to the group Kirby buys.

saban, must be a man on a mission. Not enjoying UGA's success. Stars don't always matter, but they do most of the time. All you have to do is look at UGA, Ohio st and Bama's recruiting the last few years then see who is in the playoffs.

Only the 2018 Clemson Tiger team had better starter level players than Bama due to the Power Rangers, TL16, Tee, Justyn, and Hunter. In 2016, DW4 carried Tigers on his back, and Bama was better at 15-plus positions.
Long story short. Bama and now UGA followed by Bucknuts have the best and definitely the deepest rosters. Only CK2, great defensive play and greatly elevated OL and WR play can put our Tigers back in the playoffs. I like our chances in 2023.

I really hope you’re right. It also will help if Cade can get the passes in the same zip code as the ball. Something DJ seemed to have lost the ability to do as his career progressed (really it regressed). Still, a huge part will be an OL that will give him enough time to get a pass off. We all wait and see.

Some people don't like it but stars matter. Doesn't mean everything as Clemson proved in 2016 and 2018. For the most part though the top recruiting teams have greater success.

Sometimes the stars matter. Many of our guys on those title teams were underrated because we still hadn’t been given the benefit of the doubt.
Fast forward to the 2 Covid years when we couldn’t get top players on our campus. We couldn’t sell Clemson on a laptop, but because we won 2 titles some of our commits were rated too high.
Now that we’ve had a couple down years once again our guys are being undervalued (see Peter Woods recruitment). Currently Bama and UGA could take an unrated kicker and he would automatically be given 3-stars.
I know I’m rambling on but it’s hard to explain in print. To put it simple it’s easy to dial in on the best 15-20 best prospects. Beyond that those recruiting nerds rank players by who’s currently winning the most and who’s fans buy the most subscriptions.

Like I've said before, Bama's starting line up is of mostly 5 star players, BUT, Dabo has beat them with a few 5 stars and A roster loaded with 4 star players. Most 5 star players don't take to developmental coaching very well bc they believe they are ready for the NFL coming into college and believe the must have 3 years of college ball is a waist of their time....

It’s Bama they will get there’s just like OSU and Georgia. Those that say it does not matter make my head hurt. What are you basing that on. Look at the top 10 in the polls and you will normally see top 10 recruiting. There are always anomalies like a TCU where their roster just had good players with experience but I will be happy to take all the 4’s and 5’s we can get.
