I don't want another single US military person being sent to the Middle East, much less Gaza, to be the "solution" to a problem we can't solve.

My guess is that the moment this "America take over Gaza" idea popped into Trump's thick head it just rolled right out his mouth during the press conference. The man simply has no brain to mouth filter. I seriously wonder how many of his Administration folks sitting at the brief were giving one another "W.T.F. eyes" last night during the press conference.

Being that there is no real detailed plan on this "America take over Gaza" - I'm not going to lose a lot of sleep over it just yet. First and foremost - nothing is going to happen until Israel has finished whacking Hamas. Listening to what Netanyahu said last night - Israel is going to eventually resume their extermination of Hamas in Gaza and that will take some serious time - possibly years. No reconstruction is going to happen in Gaza until Israel has stopped all of their military operations.

Secondly - good luck trying to find an Arab country that will temporarily accept the Palestinians much less carve out some permanent land for them (even if the Palestinians were amenable to leaving Gaza which I bet they aren't). Here's the dirty truth that the Arab world will admit to you behind closed doors but not say out loud: The Arab states (particularly Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon) absolutely HATE the Palestinians. They look at Palestinians as a disruptive, costly, untrustworthy violent nuisance who, when given refuge, always turn on their host - Jordan and Lebanon have experienced this first hand. The biggest reason the Arab nations publicly support the Palestinian cause is to keep them in Israel as they don't want them coming into their own countries. I have had many conversations with Saudi, Jordanian, and Egyptian military officers and to the last one - they all have told me this. Some of them were so callus towards the Palestinians that they wouldn't care if the Palestinians were removed from the earth.

So until there is some semblance of a real workable, detailed plan where all stake holders (Israel, Palestinians, and the Arab States) are committed - I'm not thinking there is going to be a Trump Tower being constructed in Gaza anytime soon.
