Have Question re John Swofford and the ACC

I am in the midst of a disagreement with a friend regarding whether the Commissioner of any of the Power 5 Leagues, other than Swofford, is a grad of one of the leagues member schools. I researched the SEC, Big10, Big 12, Pac 12 (and for kicks the Ivy League) and found that NO OTHER LEAGUE HAS A COMMISSIONER from a MEMBER SCHOOL except the ACC. I contend that the Commissioner SHOULD NOT be from a member school but a well qualified "outside". He says he thinks it makes no difference.
Can you give me your opinion and thoughts since I do feel that Swofford's affiliation with UNC leads to favoritism of the highest order. TIS

Unfortunately, the ACC has tapped member school staff to be commissioner. I know that a UVA AD became commissioner (Gene Corrigan?) and believe that there have been more. Corrigan did a good job, but we cannot say the same of Swofford. Also, I always felt that UNC received the benefit of the doubt from him.

Sugar: My research shows that TODAY none of the other Power 5 Conferences have a Commissioner who is a grad of any of their member schools. Perhaps they saw the light and ruled out candidates of any member school.

if you have an issue, perhaps it should be with the presidents of the universities that continue to keep him as the acc's figure head and not with the person they put in the position?

ACC should break the trend of having a conf. commissioner, who was very involved with\\attended or employed by any conf. school.
All ACC commissioners (to date) were affiliated with a conference institution at some point prior to becoming the commissioner.
Swofford is the father of a poorly attended baseball tournament. Besides the 8 games played by UNC and NCSU, the Durham attendance was awful.
A good thing that State made it to the finals last Sunday. For the record, I have complained to the Clemson President about 3 years back and he couldn't rationalize why John Swofford was not felt to be a fair commissioner.

those two sentences/clauses were about two different situations.
i mean, i guess you would have to have some background information... or maybe some semblance of a memory for it to be clear, so i'll give you the ambiguity
so i'll draw you a picture:
1) the 'Cuse meetings were recent... and the ACC sent a rep
2) the UNC meetings were 4 years ago... and Swofford went at Thorp's invitation

but don't you think if there was real evidence of any bias toward UNC the other schools would have called him on it by now?
i just don't see any problem with his words or actions regarding the NCAA investigations
can you point me to something he's done differently with the UNC scandal(s) and the 'Cuse penalties - or any other situation?
and the whole "part of which took place under his watch" is just silly to me. guilt by association just doesn't fly.
he was AD when the paper class scheme began - and for the first 4 years of the of the Crowder/Nyang'oro.
can you produce any evidence that he knew - or even should have known - it was going on?
how many folks knew about it during the first 4 years?
the really bogus 'classes' - as opposed to 'independent study' paper-only academic credits - started in 1999, two years after Swofford moved from Chapel Hill to Greensboro

it matters and his affiliation should've disqualified him, but my main issue is that he screwed the ACC over in its TV deal in order to make sure his son still had a cushy job over at Raycom. That same son also just happened to be working at Boston College when they were invited to the ACC.

Considering my 30+ year beliefs about the additional probation imposed upon Clemson in the 80's by the ACC, I agree that the Commissioner should have no affiliation with a member school. However, the problem is the members' attitudes in that regard.
