Imagine being him and you guys do the press conference. Easy to criticize on a message board. I talked to a know it all Clemson fan in the costco parking lot. I regretted that. He was very critical and wound up...Why??. Trust me I already have eaten my words spoken going into the Georgia game. Let the season play out and please stay out of your emotions before you post..... You should never, ever complain again when someone criticizes Coach Brownell. I don’t criticize him because I support all Clemson sports and coaches, but I’ve seen you get your panties all up in a wad when others make comments about Coach B and the basketball program. Right now your behavior is as bad or worse than any of them. Sarcastic cheap shots don’t serve any purpose except maybe to make you feel better. Next time I say something about you taking cheap shots at Dabo and you deny it, just come back and read this post.

Really? I watched 12 min I think and turned it off when he called out 3 plays the defense messed up and blamed them for not “keeping momentum” after the offense went down and got 3 points 😂 😂 😂
He did mention “not being lined up properly” but didn’t say Randall, #8, or offense. The dude just won’t call them out the way he does the defense. It’s almost like he has expectations for the defense and none for the offense therefore……. 😂

Having said that if I had my choice I want Dabo as head coach at Clemson BUT do start paying players to come and fire a few coaches. Pay players and develop them and we don’t even HAVE to use the portal…. When we were winning Dabo was honest. He would criticize players and he would compliment players…when we lose he just says things to say it. I honestly don’t think he believes some of the things he says

are positive in their approaches. He talked about the mistakes that were made. He made a lot of great points. The point about Alabama losing the national championship game to us by a score of 44-16.
Lots of football left with a lot of young talent to incorporate over the season, like last year. With the App State game this weekend and then an open date, we'll be a much better team after preparing for and facing #1 Georgia in the first game when we begin our ACC schedule.
Georgia and Clemson have the two best defenses I saw this weekend. First games can be weird affairs. Lets see where we are after 12 more games. Win the ACC and we're in the playoffs.

We currently have talent. There are definitely a few more issues going on imo.
If you may have noticed Beamer and Norvell dove into the portal and both could possibly be out after this year.
They will not be allotted the time it would take to build a roster that does not basically turn over year after year.
Portal is a great scapegoat and I understand the constant crying and whining but the fact is we have a highly rated QB that is just not very good. Do you tell him to hit the portal and go with plan B or do you get a 1year deal at the position every season. Roster management these days is fluid and has to be aggravating to manage. They get paid well and assume they will get it figured out. I hope.

We also have a subpar coaching staff that isn't doing a very good job developing players or putting them in positions to succeed. That's why we are a top 5 team in terms of overall talent, per a recent Rivals ranking, but don't play anything like a top 5 team.
We are doing less with more.
The transfer portal would help by plugging in experienced players who have had success at the college level. The hope is that they could contribute before our coaching staff can undo what they already know and do.

The reason we have to play young talent is because we have a mismanaged roster. We have misevaluated and not developed so many players that we have glaring holes
Get your numbers on true frosh playing now days. It’s not like it used to be. The good ones are playing. We have a few I believe need to see the field sooner rather than later and a few I would like to see pursue other opportunities. I love loyalty but if you are a senior and I have a better freshman I’m playing the freshman all day, everyday. Dabo does not ask my opinion though and rightly so. I pull for Clemson and he currently calls the shots so what can you do?

Lots of people on here hate Walt Deptula, and he certainly has his faults ...... like never being wrong and patting himself on the back constantly ...... but ..... today he was absolutly right on the money regarding Dabo and the portal. If you didn't hear it I won't explain the entire segment, but the bottom line is that Walt think Dabo will win another title doing it his way ...... going into high school kids home and selling them and his parents on coming to Clemson is much more than just a NIL deal and that he will give them a chance to excel. He also said that when we recruited 5 stars like Watson and Lawrence, we hit on those players, just like we did with receivers. Both DJ and Cade were at the top of their class and 5 stars and may have missed on them, as well as some highly regarded receivers ....i.e. Collins, Ngata, Williams, and Ladson (although he did not mention them by name). H ementioned that even the NFL teams miss way more often than the hit of quarterbacks, so you can't expect college coaches to hit on every player regardless of stars. I agree!

I disagree. That is counting on Swinney hitting on another half dozen 5-stars. Walt said that Clemson had missed on 2 QBs and like 3 or 4 WR'S. Problem is without NIL dollars (big) Dabo's not gonna land that caliber of players to get a chance on hitting or missing. You see it in our current recruiting. 4 and 5-star players ate being lured away to even smaller schools. The realistic fans will sit and watch this ship go down slowly without a drastic philosophical change!!

If he said some of our QBs, OLs and WRs didn't perform the way we wanted, our coaches didn't develop them, etc., etc. would that really be better? He would be throwing players and coaches under the bus.
And he also always tries to be positive. It's one of his traits.
I figure coaches are often not completely honest and that's probably ok.
