Trying to find info on Luke Orfi and......

Don't know of it was discussed here or not but he had on his Twitter he was committed to USCjr and then he took it off. Now it appears he doesn't have to grades to leave JUCO. So obviously this is a situation where Bakich and company had moved on. If he can't get into South Carolina he for dang sure can't get into Clemson.

I would assume he is not coming to Clemson because of a recent transfer in and trying to read between the lines of a David Hoods cryptic post. Orfi has been in Massachusetts playing in the NECL. But this the last I saw on line.

He is #16 on the list

Hmm, sounds like his grades may have made his draft decision for him already.

Too bad, I think he would have been a great addition to our team.

That's too bad

I absolutely love that Bakich made the effort to bring those 4 offensive players in when many people weren't expecting him to do so. But I'm still a little concerned about depth.

This season Clemson had 12 starting-quality offensive players: (listed in no particular order) And yes, I know Purify's production is debatable, but if you look for yourself, you'll see that these 12 guys got almost all of the playing time for position players. But if you want to argue it should say 11, I won't fight you.

Cannarella
Wright
Taylor
Obertop
Hinderleider
Mathes
Ciufo
Purify
Nawrocki
Bissetta
Jarrell
Crighton

next season, as it stands, they have only 10: (again listed in no particular order)

Cannarella
Ciufo
Purify
Bissetta
Jarrell
Crighton
Paino
Priest
Gaffney
Listi

I really like this group, but I'd feel a lot more comfortable if there were at least a couple more names on this list. We all saw last year how fast you can go from deep to shallow when guys start getting injured. With Orfi now out of the equation, that means Clemson is presumably out of further options for starting-caliber hitters for 2025 unless Will Taylor makes a surprise decision to return or Chase Harlan somehow actually makes it to campus. That is unless Bakich dips back into the portal, which we've been told isn't likely at this point except for pitching.

I know some of you might say that a few of the incoming freshmen or some of the returning bench players might be good enough to fill those roles next season, and you may be right. But from what I've been told, other than Harlan, none of the other freshman position players are expected to be good enough to be major contributors in year one. As far as returners, I do know a lot of people like Hideki Prather, and I may agree with you there because he was a highly-rated prospect who went a bit under-the-radar due to injury. I've also seen more fanfare than I expected for Tryston McCladdie, but he got very little playing time last year. Are we really realistically expecting that he can step into a major role next season? I want to believe in the guy, but I'm just not sure I've seen enough real evidence yet. Maybe somebody can sell me on him, but I'm still uncertain about that being enough of an answer.

All I'm saying is that I'd feel a lot better if we had a little bit more offensive depth going into next season. But I'd love to hear y'all's thoughts on this if you disagree or have something to add.

Nice list and thoughts. A player like Orfi is still needed. Who knows when Ciufo is going to be 100%. Hopefully he'll start off full speep but it took Taylor a while to get back to 100% coming back from his knee surgery and it wouldn't be out the question for Ciufo.
