Trump and Russia

Ponder this , if Trump thinks our real problem enemy is China , he may prefer Russia as an ally. Europe is useless, they as a whole have either never funded a military or let is go to hell in a hand basket individually.
I will believe that the EU is gonna pour 800 billion in to defense when contracts are signed and money is appropriated. That whole social society contract will be toast and they will face large demonstrations/riots from those on the government teat. Usually the governments cave over there.
So, do you want to go to war with a bunch of ill funded clowns you will have to carry or a group that maybe not so effective but at least has weapons. Shoot , they got good at being cannon fodder in Ukraine.

You misspelled "Russia is useless". Couldn't even overrun Ukraine in 3 years with 30 percent of their population on Russia's side
Had to bring in troops from N Korea they are so pathetic

Russia wouldn't side with the United States vs China, so they are worthless.

Russia has little to nothing in common with China, you may not want to believe it but ethnocentrism may play a huge role. The Chinese seem to look down on the Russians, Russians are a proud people.

China is their biggest trading partner with a very powerful army that might take Russia out. There is zero chance Russia sides with us. It would be more likely they would side with China to take us out if anything. More than likely they would just stay out of things and sell oil to China.

Russia has more to fear from a belligerent China than we do.

True, but they have more fear of fíghting them at all. They would never side with us. They would gain nothing. It's completely irrational to think they would.

Russia would never have control over the far east. On the other side which you may be talking about, Russia could never stop China from doing what they want either. Russia has enough problems with Ukraine. They would get destroyed by China. They want no part of that. Their interests are continuing to trade with China more than ever, especially after Europe is working so hard to distance themselves from China. Russia might even be better off in China defeated the US in a war. Russia doesn't give a shyatt about the US doing well. They are better off with us failing.

Money. White supremacists deal drugs to black people. They have more reasons to have peace with China.

If you are gonna go with the money angle then Russia has more reason to take China for economic reasons. Russia really, outside of military hardware and oil , has nothing to offer the world. A defeated China controlled by Moscow, well they reap the benefits without spending to build industrial infrastructure and products.

800 billion isn't that much. The UK government alone holds almost that much in US treasuries. The money spent can be more effective if it's spent smarter. We spread defense spending into every congressional district one way or another to keep support in the Congress and boost jobs and the economy. The F-35 program supports 1650 suppliers (14 in SC). You could make that plane for a lot less money if fewer suppliers were used.

Russia as an ally isn't a bad idea, but Putin is too dumb to see this. Russia should have pursued integration with NATO and the EU after the fall of the Soviet Union instead of trying to dominate the former Soviet republics.
