Automatic Bids for CFP

I don’t really care that the SEC and B10 get 4 automatic bids for a potential 16 team playoff.
I’m only focused on Clemson and how we benefit from switching to that model. The ACC would get 2 automatic bids. That kind of bodes well for us. With the changes in revenue distribution otw, Clemson will have a sizeable gap in revenue over everyone (not FSU) in the conference.
This revenue gap matters even more in the era of NIL/portal too, particularly with maintaining your roster. So, Clemson will have even more of an advantage over every other ACC program (not FSU). It should be even easier for us to finish in the top 2 of the conference annually, thereby receiving an automatic bid to the playoffs.
Am I off about this?

Doesn’t matter. FSU will continue to #### the bed until we’re in the Big10 in 2030.

It does matter if this has an impact on Clemson.
And it seems like we will receive an advantage with the new changes.

Clemson ranks 4th in our confrence, no playoffs.
South Carolina ranks 4th in their conference, they are in the playoffs.

Though I think you are correct as far as the playoffs, the financial advantage may may depend how things work out. SMU, UofL and a couple of others may have big time donors that step up in the NIL arena.

That’s true.
But isn’t the ACC moving to an unequal distribution model that will benefit Clemson and FSU, since we get the eyeballs? UofL and SMU may have large donors, but we will receive more revenue from the conference than they do.

And if we ever want to advance to the 2nd round, we will either have to win a road game in the SEC or B10. We will never get round 1 in DV.

An undefeated Clemson would definitely get a first round home with straight seeding.

Everyone that loves and enjoys college football should care about multiple auto bids. Other than the Power 4 conference champs no conference should have another auto bid.

I think the suggested format was one auto bid for the highest ranking G5 school.
That makes sense to me. 15 teams from the P4.
4 SEC 4 B10 2 ACC 2 B12 1 G5 3 at large
Sure, that’ll almost guarantee the SEC and B10 will have 10-11 of the 16 teams. But, that’s also fair. Both of those conferences have like 4-5 top 16 teams every year anyways.

the acc have an up year miami, clemson, fsu and who ever else all drop 1-2 games each someone will be left out simply because the other two conferences get four automatically based on their name alone. each conference should get 1 auto bid the go from there.

If Clemson finishes in the top 2, then we are automatically in. I don’t really care if another ACC team is left out.

our chances of finishing in the top 2 in the ACC vs hypothetically finishing in the top 4 of the SEC. Top 2 in the ACC without question but that said I still believe we must find a way out of the ACC and into either the SEC or the B10 or suffer the eventuality of becoming irrelevant.

We could still leave the ACC.
But this new, proposed turnout, benefits Clemson while we are still in the ACC.

My hate for the ACC has not subsided.

However, the practical attitude is that we're getting paid for production. The devil with the rest of the conference. If it is an easy path then why would we want out? IDK, but I'd still like to leave. That's unnatural and it makes me feel a bit dirty but the hate remains.
It's an old hate which was bred long ago and festered for decades. It's hard to shed because it's become my friend.

Clemson makes nothing from other ACC schools going. We play, we get paid. I've never been a 'pull for the conference,' type guy. My team is Clemson and that's that!
