One of the most annoying, overused football term used right

Sep 14, 2012, 4:34 PM

now: "downhill" . . .

"He really gets after it running downhill."

"The rookie needs to learn how to attack downhill."

This term is not to be confused with sliding on cardboard "downhill".

Brad Brownell: Only Larry freaking Shyatt has a WORSE overall winning percentage among Clemson basketball coaches since 1975. Let that sink in. It's Larry Shyatt & then Brad Brownell.

"True Freshman"

Sep 14, 2012, 4:38 PM

Just say Freshman. If the player is a redshirt, then call him a redshirt Freshman.

NOOOOOO, you jackholes - I wasn't ASKING A QUESTION . . .

Sep 14, 2012, 4:56 PM

I was TELLING you what the most overused term in football is right now . . .

Running towards the side lines on a crowned field is downhill.

I thought tommy got rid of the crown

I've been hearing "playstation offense" a lot lately.***

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

one of the announcers last night said...

Sep 14, 2012, 7:24 PM

"thats the B button move"

Indisputible Video Evidence

Sep 14, 2012, 4:43 PM

I win. Next question?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Another is "chess match." A game of football is not a match,

Sep 14, 2012, 4:47 PM

so please stop using an analogy that doesn't work. Another is "between you and I" or variations of that, including "you and he" after a preposition. Hey, you're getting paid to run your mouth on t.v. Learn some basic freaking English!

Sep 14, 2012, 5:08 PM

How about the classic "SEC SPEED"

Sammy Watkins is fast, but if he played for Florida he would have "SEC SPEED." And Andre Ellington is great and all but he only runs a 4.4... he really lacks that "SEC SPEED."

Where is MY knife?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I like Soff-a-more

Sep 14, 2012, 5:11 PM

and running north and south in death valley which is really east and west

"TREMENDOUS UPSIDE"

Sep 14, 2012, 5:38 PM

what the heck does that mean? a player is better at the things he does good than he is bad at the things he does wrong!?! this makes no sense and you hear it all the time!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In all seriousness... do you know why that term is used?***

Sep 14, 2012, 5:41 PM

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

I don't, I always assumed it was idiots since nobody runs

Sep 14, 2012, 7:30 PM

downhill in football...except for maybe the hella crown we used to have

2025 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I can see these responses are really going Downhill,

Sep 14, 2012, 8:32 PM

so I'll abstain.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

the new one I am already getting tired of is "skillset".***

Sep 14, 2012, 9:54 PM

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, what about -- "he's great (or poor)

Sep 14, 2012, 11:46 PM

at running north/south." Some stadiums like Clemson go east and west.

badge-donor-05yr.jpgtnet-military.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Physicality !!!! WTH does this even mean...***

Sep 15, 2012, 12:05 AM

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

3-game winning streak.

Sep 15, 2012, 6:41 AM

i can't wait for november!

tnet-military.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

For me, not as annoying as "physical"

Sep 15, 2012, 7:33 AM

The line needs to get more physical.

That's like going up to a chess player and saying
you need to get more mental.
