Friday night, a trip to Lowe's then the quick hibachi place for supper. Nice calm evening.
Saturday, back to Lowe's because I forgot something. Then they didn't have it in stock so I had to go to ACE to get it. Went to Contrast Distilling in Simpsonville with the beer club for a drink and to hear them talk about their process, Warehouse at Vaughn's for a beer and supper then to some friends to watch some hockey. They really care about the hockey but their team didn't do so well.
Sunday, back to Lowe's because something I'd planned to use didn't fit. Worked on the next video some but it was pretty dang hot and I figured folks didn't really want to see my boob sweat. Not much progress was made. May try again today if it isn't raining.

Had to deal with a family issue all weekend. Rough stuff. A lot of difficult conversations. Don't want to do that again.
Father's day meant traveling to see father of and father in law. Ate tacos so spend the rest of the day with indigestion and nauseous.
Started getting all of the camping stuff straight for Jocassee next week. If you got a boat, stop by.

Solid Chucktown weekend. CHez Nous for octopus and grouper friday night. Shrimps and flounder at the Dinghy for lunch sattidy and a pizza from Grimaldi's for dinner. Hit downtown sattidy as well as IOP beach.
10/10 (19/19 on the RH Covids scale) even with deductions for traffic.
Would due a gin and a gin and a gin.

Fri - hosted some guys from Charleston at Palmetto. Can't wait to do return trip and play at Charleston Country Club. Played decent for me, maybe my game is coming back some (knock on wood). Whiskey Alley after for best burger in town. Hung downtown and sang some karaoke.
Sat - laid low in the a.m. and watched golf. Lowes grocery that afternoon for growler fill ups.
Sun - went to Radioactive Pinball for fathers day. Place is cool. Tons of pinball machines and 80s video games. I'm not really into pinball but it was fun, and the video games and skee ball were lots of fun. Head to pizza joint for late lunch. Back to arcade for more fun. Head to mellow mushroom for golf/beer with the fellas. What a finish by Spaun! Finished off next door for a round of bingo. Pretty tired after all this so bed at a reasonable hour.

Fri - Went out to dinner then home for a movie
Sat - Worked in the garage, took McJr for a haircut, then cut lots and lots of grass including the ditch.
Sun - Church in the morning, grilled steaks for father's Day with my dad and brother's family. Took wife and kids fishing yesterday evening and caught the big one.

FATHER'S DAY WEEKEND IS ALWAYS EPIC

Friday was nothing of note that I remember.
Up Saturday to go to Bill's for a FULL DAY of Volleyball. 16U tourney from 7:45 AM to about 1:30 PM and then 14U tourney from 2:45 until finished. In the 16U tourney they were 2-2 in pool play, should have been 3-1, made some calls that refs didn't agree with, was really close. Dodged some storms, lost in first round of Gold Bracket playoffs. Second ever tourney in 16s and played well, apparently got an AVP 16U B rating from that. 14U tourney after LOTS of rain, swept pool play pretty easy, got a bye in the first round of the Gold Bracket playoffs but lost to eventual tournament winners in Quarterfinals. There were only 2-3 teams that were "better" than us and we happened to draw them in the quarters. Oh well, not their best showing, not their worst. Spent more than 13 hours at Bill's for Volleyball, grabbed Pizza on the way home.
Up Sunday to be treated like a kang because it is Father's Day. Took the dogs out early, couldn't go back to sleep. Wife and kids up by 10:00, too wet to do yard work, daughter had beach volley practice, watched soccer, got harassed because I hadn't planned Father's Day, eventually went to get burgers for dinner, went to sleep. Kids did yell Happy Father's Day from upstairs and daughter said it to my face. It's the little things, you know, where you spend all your time and money doing stuff for them and they reward you with a passing "Oh yeah, Happy Father's Day" just to let you know they care. /sarcasm
Busy Saturday, low key Sunday, back to work today.

Catch Justin Cody Fox if you get a chance. He's from Wilmington and plays around town a lot. I was chatting with him after his set and found out that Audley Freed is his mentor and produced his New Southern album, and Rhett Huffman from American Aquarium plays on it. Go listen if you get a chance, the dude is KILLER.

APM was doing good on his pre-IOP summer slim down. Then Father's Day hit.
Began Friday night when we went out to Chili's at littlest APM's request, since he got back from camp. Chili's ain't nothin' but salt. Dat triple dipper doh!
Saturday was the best weather day so I grilled some chicken, had a ranch water and an ice cold Bud LIght (CRISPY!) that I dirtied up with some Tajin.
Sunday was church, then talked to the big kids, then vegged on the couch, then ate a blackberry/peach cobbler with Homestead Creamery (iykyk) ice cream. Then watched part of Jaws. Then bed.
I will not step on the scales until manyana.

Went to Lowe's and got some corrugated pipe to extend a downspout that's been destroying a mulch bed when it rains. It's like the Peter North of downspouts.
I watched golf.
Soaked in the accolades and appreciation of being a Dad.

Friday - not much other than the ride home from work. Never seen that much rain here.
Sat - piddling around the house. I too went to Lowe's. Replacing a blind in the breakfast nook. This was my 3rd attempt. The first two times the machine that trims the blinds to your length was down. This time it was more of the operator. After waiting a few minutes a women, still eating her ice cream cone asked if she could help. I handed her the box and she loaded it in the machine slamming the drawer. A code came up that said the blinds were not in position. She opened it, slid it back into position, then slammed the drawer again. Same code. Same routine once more. "This thing is actin up today," was the response. Her remedy for all this was, "Let's let it rest a minute". I told her just to forget it. I'll come back another day.
Sunday - Church, nap, still trying to get through Andor. Watched about 4-5 holes of the Open. Went to Hickory Tavern where the level of service rivaled Lowe's.
Highlight was finding wings at Food Lion for $1.99/lb and Buffalo Trace for $32. Trace is usually mid-upper $40's here, if you can find it at all.

Went to a “Don’t Tell Comedy” show. It was OK. There were some laughs. Of the seven comedians, four should stick to their pizza delivery jobs. Did some painting Saturday. Grilled kebabs for SIL and BIL yesterday. Met the kids at a bar/ arcade in the evening.

Friday: Golfed pretty terribly and lost money, hung out with wife & kid
Saturday: Watched US Open, went to in-laws to celebrate Father's Day early, leave kiddo and doggo with them. Wife and I get home and relax with an empty house.
Sunday: Wife gets up and goes to JFK to start a trip, I play in a memorial doubles disc golf tournament, we won $100, couple strokes off the leading team that we should've been in contention with. Picked up a tired kiddo and doggo and watched the rest of the US Open for an incredible finish.
Good weekend. Pinehurst golf trip starts Wednesday, already checked out of working.

Thursday, Whitewater Center to see Deltaphonic from New Orleans. Fantastic band and great show, but we bailed halfway through the second set and missed getting drenched by the thunder, lightning, and heavy rain. However, it caught up to us on 485 and brought traffic to a crawl and followed us home.
Friday, Open Tap to see Justin Cody Fox do an early solo acoustic show. Been listening to him for almost 10 years and I haven't gotten the chance to see him live since he never comes to Charlotte. Not the best listening room for music, but he was very good. We were hungry afterwards and decided to head up toward Woodlawn and eat at Burton's, which never disappoints.
Saturday, Had our 124th quarterly Supper Club (that's 31 years in case you're mathing) and went to Palmetto Seafood. The gathering is always great, the bulk of the group has all known each other since elementary school...it might be the last bastion of old-school Rock Hill left anymore. Went to Palmetto Seafood, and it was good but not as good as it was since it's been sold twice since the original owner Donnie retired. It's the one place I know I can still get frog legs, so I was a happy camper.
Sunday, Joonyer took me to Hopfly Brewing in Charlotte since it was the last day for the Surefire food truck there. Pretty good beers, and I was devastated to find out that Surefire is dropping hot dogs from the menu. The Capital Dog was an iconic Rock Hill dog but the owner told us that the burgers and chicken sandwiches were better margins in the food truck. Hoping they get can finally settle with the insurance company since the original brick and mortar location in Rock Hill caught fire but it sounds like they're doing better in the Charlotte market. If you ever get a chance, their smashburgers are freaking fantastic, as is the Retha Mae chicken sandwich.
19/19 Covids, would do it all again.

Friday got in a nice bike ride, then hung out on the patio with Wife-of.
Saturday went to farmers market and got some goodies and some tasties. Then came home, went to Ace and got myself a new pressure washer. Came home and tackled sunroof leak in apart new (used) car. Took boot apart to get down to metal and let everything dry out - water had collected in spare tire well. Located clogged sunroof drains and snaked a weedeater line through the drain to clear. After successful drain test put everything back together. Then assembled pressure washer and cleaned front walk. Showered up and headed to Sum Bar for delicious food and drinks. Came home and watched hockey.
Sunday Wife-of made delicious and enormous 3 egg and cheese sandwich on fresh bread from farmers market. After digesting that, started washing cars, ended up pretty much detailing Wife's. Cut grass, ran the trimmer and the blower, and did a little other yard work. Fired up the grill and had fresh corn and a lovely ostrich tenderloin with blackberry sauce for dinner. Poured a drink or three and chillaxed.
This morning I am pricing out HVAC systems for our upstairs. Oh lawd.
Would repeat.

Friday: nothin' that I remember. Fell asleep on couch, which is usually a mistake, because not as comfortable as bed and no CPAP, but those do battle with my already-vaguely-contentedness of laying on the couch, and the couch has a pretty solid winning record.
Saturday: up at 5:30 or 6 with a sore back, laid down in bed, got another crappy hour or two of sleep before pulling out smoker and assessing things. Put 11 armadillo eggs on smoke a little after noon, really shouldn't have taken more than 2 hours, but for some reason, smoker didn't want to get above 200, so 3.5 hours later, I'm still looking at these things that haven't hit the internal temp I want. Buddy's 40th bday party had already started, so fuggit, pulled 'em.
Took 10 of them to party, and the last one for next door neighbor.

There was half of one left at the end of the night, so 10 was apparently the perfect number. Also brought the Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville frozen drink maker that my parents got at least 15, if not 20 years ago. I didn't even know it was in my garage, Dad must have pawned it off on me years ago and it got buried. Definitely hasn't been used in the last 12 or 13 years, but it churned out a good 8 pitchers of pina coladas and frozen margaritas. AND, I was able to leave it at fran's house since it'll get more use over there around their pool. I'd call that a win.
Wife was on her way to the party, and called me to let me know that 2 dogs were running down the street in the rain not far from our house. She pulled over and opened the back hatch, and they hopped in, and now she doesn't know what to do, because there are two strange dogs in her car. Very sweet girls, small pitty mixes, as best as I can tell, both looked like they had puppies recently (neeples, nomesayin'), both had collars with no info or tags on them. Both covered in fleas and malnourished, so probably dumped by some uberasshole fairly recently. She posted on the various local FB pages, but no one appears to be looking for them. Cleared out some space in the garage for them and she and the girls bathed them and cleaned them up, and took care of the fleas. Hoping to find a shelter to get them to today.
Honestly, I don't know that I would have picked them up, even being a dog lover, because it quickly turns into a THING, like where we're at now.

Sunday: took the old man to brunch at the brewery, middle daughter tagged along. Food was meh, they seem to have gone downhill some, which is a shame. Home, watched some golf, maybe a few minutes of vague napping. Vinny's calzone seemed like the right move for dinner, so that got got. Not sure any of the other 4 people in my house told me "Happy Father's Day", but I made middle daughter tell my dad at brunch, so at least he got to hear it from me and her. Jerks.

I'll call it a 8.4/10 weekend.

Our two current ahole dogs won't allow it. I also just heard from a kid that wifey is thinking about how to foster them, which, again, isn't going to be a thing.

I realized I've been pretty steady on weekend hangovers for a while when I woke up Saturday, and kinda Sunday with one.
Friday, too actually. So..yeah. On the plus side I haven't been eating as much, so I've lost some weight.
Friday I went to the Southern for happy hour, hung out there until about 9:30. Came home and drank a few more in my garage until I was stumbling around, then just went to bed.
Saturday, was going to go out in the boat, but it was on and off raining, and sleeping until 11 to make my hangover go away seemed more productive. Thought about cutting the grass, then thought better of it. and just kind hung out on the couch for a while.
Neighbor came over later, so, we drank beer in the garage. He had fathers day s stuff he didn't want to do Sunday, so we called it an early night.
Met an old friend for lunch Sunday around noon, the later drove my other neighbors around on my golf cart up to Shem Creek and got some food at Salt Water Cowboy. Went over to Red's, had a beer, and came home.
Successfully put off cutting the grass again. My new fishing reel showed up Sunday, so that was cool.
In bed by 10:30, and here I am.

But I've never had some life altering moment of clarity
nor do I think anyone else has, either
If not drinking was so great, nobody would go back to drinking.

Fri - took day off to play golf. got rained out, but made it 13 holes. I was plus 5 with a triple, a double, and a 3-putt bogey. the dawghater23 golf experience. I have these holes where I'm a stick, then my buddies ask me if I've ever swung a golf club before.
Sat - had a blow up with my CEO. we'll see how this goes. so pissed off I cut the grass in the rain.
took kids to neighbors to play after nap, then did a family outing to Twin Peaks (lol)
Sun - did father's day stuff in AM, took kids to pool in my new swimsuit. ate lunch, nap
got freaky
in-laws came over. had a great spread of venison, ribeyes, homemade mac & cheese, and a salad.

Friday night the Mrs. decided we were doing a Bark and Run (or some similar name) dog 5k. Daughter won the 100 meter dash with your dog race as well as first in her age group. I didn't die, which was a distinct possibility, so that's good!
Got a surface cleaner and pressure washed the driveway. Pool time, fishing in the neighborhood pond and a 13 lb brisket rounded out the evening.
Topgolf Sunday and a bit of shopping, followed by yard work and - of course - more pool and fishing time.
Downside - our upstairs AC went out. Getting repaired right now and i'm at least a bit hopeful this is a repair, not replace, situation.

Me and Mrs Pabst spent tue to Sun at the Omni Homestead in warm springs VA. She got to participate in Falconry and we did most of the major hikes. We ate healthy but a lot of food. Spent two whole days chilling by pool.
Wood do again and again.
