Friday night, dropped that cat we were sheltering off back at her home. Cat was completely different once we dropped her off. Vocal and full of energy and vitality. She was not happy in our house and I don't think was happy being inside. Went to Rocky's Hot Chicken for supper.
Saturday, up EARLY to head to the Sesquicentennial State Park for a friend of Sharkgirl's 69th birthday gathering. Visited for a while then off to Maryville, TN to meet up with RH and his sweet lady to party at the Shed with Ray Wylie Hubbard. Show was phenomenal as always and I can't even recall any crowd behavior issues.
Sunday, got moving earlier than normal, drove to some lookouts on US 129 then headed up to Black Mountain for lunch then to Lake Lure to see if we could just spend some money. Found one store that was open, but about to close. Found some earrings right quick and got out of there. They seemed pretty relieved at the little we spent. Tried to get to Chimney Rock as we thought we'd see the road was open and Google didn't say it wasn't open but the two ways we tried were closed. Finally elected to head on home.

Friday - surgery follow-up appt from ankle surgery 6 wks ago and got out of the walking boot, which is good. Can do exercises at home without having to go to PT and follow-up in 6 wks to make sure progress is as expected. Lunch at Summa Joes in Anderson with wife-of...not bad pizza. Had take-out from Smok'n Pig for dinner, which was on-point as always.
Sat - me and Daughter-of go to Aiken to take my Mom out to dinner. Went to Park Ave Oyster Bar and it was pretty dang good. Then back to my Mom's house to hear a collection of stories for the eleventybillionth time. Hit the sack early.
Sun - get back to Anderson around 11:30am...pick-up wife-of and son-of and head to Earle Street Kitchen for their Mother's Day Brunch buffet, which was actually very good. Back to house and everyone goes to their corner for post feeding nap time. Don't remember much else. Bed at a decent time.
Decent weekend and all moms were happy!

Was admitted to hospital Thursday night for a kidney infection. Sepsis developed so they have been pumping me with antibiotics since. Food is terrible, bed is uncomfortable, television channels stink.
However, Clemson Softball is hosting so that is good.

Bout the same as all my weekends recently. Hoping to have everything wrapped up at the river... run into issues. The only places that I can get parts to fix said issues are only open M-F.
I do think I have my water figured out where it can now go several weeks without having to be maintained.
I told my wife happy mothers day at 5 pm on the way home, and i told my mom happy mothers day at about 10:30 pm. Those "Random whatever" days are dumb. I don't participate... I think I am becoming Ineligible User.

Friday - Started one of my summer projects of refinishing the kitchen cabinets. Meet some friends for dinner that evening.
Saturday - Did a little more sanding. Meet the kids downtown for dinner and drinks. Went over to Bailey Park for Old Crow Medicine Show. Had a great time.

Sunday - Not much. Baby girl came over and hung for a while. We talked about doing something a couple of times. But, the rain always seemed to starting just an hour away. Thanks weather peeps.

We took her partner with us as her parents were out of state at work and closing on a house to move. That sucks because they play really well together.
Dinner Friday night at Chuy's, love that place and it was near the hotel.
Saturday morning pool play, three seed overall, girls went 4-2 with the two losses coming to a pair that we could have beaten. Scorekeepers messed up a point near the end of game one, scorekeepers parents agreed with that, but the other girls said no so we just moved on. Lost by two points. They were in the net alot too which wasn't called, but oh well. Should have been 5-1.
Bracket play (now the 8 seed) started slow, won first one in three sets against the 9 seed. Then had to play the 1 overall seed which had a bye. Girls played great and beat the ones overall in two sets. Made it to the semifinals but lost in two sets to the eventual champions. Weirdly enough though, the Semifinals were played under weird circumstances, a girl passed out as she was leaving and the some redneck Dad was yelling at the Tournament Director (see below). Drove back to ILM and got back around midnight.
Sunday Mother's Day was just spent cleaning the house and grabbing dinner at Wrightsville Beach Brewing. Nasty day out, nasty morning again today.
7/10, would do it again if they have the chance.
***So apparently the girls who we lost to in pool play (Team A) beat another team (Team B) in bracket play to send them home. BUT, after you lose, you sometimes have to ref the next game. At some point in time, Team A MIGHT have called Team B dumb rednecks. Or maybe they called the parents that. After Team A got knocked out in the next game, reffed by Team B, Team A came running over to Tourney Directly to complain that Team B's parents were talking junk to them the whole time. Then Team B's Dad, sporting a Clemson hat and shirt, comes over and LOUDLY yells that those girls were nasty and called them dumb rednecks and ranted for a while. Told the tourney Director they would never be back, etc... Director played it off, but it was what a Dumb Redneck would do, so I guess Team A got it right. Anyways, dude then proceeds to go to the parking lot and yell at some random car LOUDLY that they were driving too fast. This portion of the tournament was 14U. An adult man was talking shidd to 14 year old girls. His daughter looked like she was about to cry and had that "Oh no, here we go again" look.

Thursday, went to the Harley-Davidson dealership in RH for their bike night event to hear Mojo Stomp play some blues rock. They gave away free beer so had a couple of Modelos. I was impressed they just handed you ice-cold cans of your choice instead of cheap warm draught beer. Caught the first set then left for a fundraiser event one of our friends was putting on at the Journeyman Irish Pub, and for the second time in a couple of weeks we closed the bar down. Ran through a few minutes of hail on the way home but careful inspection of the vehicle revealed zero damage, and no hail at our house at all.
Friday, Mrs. decided I was going to help her clean the house from top to bottom, so by the time we quit I was too kate to clean up and go watch the band I had planned to go see, so made a sandwich and flopped down in front of the TV.
Saturday, off to The Shed in Maryville, TN to meet u with aerozeptallica and SharkGirl to see Ray Wylie Hubbard. Kelley Mickwee from The Trishas opened and was really good. Ray was phenomenal as always. Nothing I really need to say beyond the fact that Ray Wylie Hubbard is my spirit animal.
Sunday, on the road around 9:30ish and usually we would take the long sightseeing route but ended up staying interstate the whole way and getting back early. In spite of the one-lane 35 mph stretch of road crossing the state line where they're rebuilding the hurricane damage, it was an easy ride back and got home early. Relaxed for a few hours before Joonyer and DIL picked us up and took us to Burton's in Charlotte for Mothers Day.
Clemson baseball deductions are wiped out by softball conference champions, so I'll give it 190/19 Covids because Ray Wylie Hubbard.

Three things of note that I failed to document earlier...
8
8

|
First, a steak biscuit from Hardees in Forest City, NC on the way to Tennessee. Aside from the fact that I am a Hardees loyalist and everyone else is wrong, this was quite obviously a brand new location, was spotlessly clean inside, and was overstaffed by a competent crew that seemed to be having fun at work. Also, both the manager and the assistant manager stopped by our table to ask how everything was even though we were the only customers in the place and were in and out in under 10 minutes. I felt like I had been transported back to the 1960s.
Second, we opted to go to Food City grocery and snack-heavy rather than try and locate gluten-free restaurant food for Mrs. They had an in-store bar, an incredible beer selection in the coolers, and was a really nice store in general. I grabbed a 12-pack of Old Style in honor of Pope Leo XIV which was cool since I only ever see it in and around Chicago.
Third, Clemson native Brad Rice was playing bass and rhythm guitar for Ray Wylie Hubbard. Brad used to come into Quarters in Clemson occasionally when I ran the place, and I had hoped to speak to him but he never got the chance. He's done pretty well as a career musician...playing with The Backsliders, The Accelerators, Tift Merritt, and Whiskeytown when he lived in Raleigh and went on to play in Ryan Adams' and Keith Urban's touring bands. It was a great surprise to see him with Ray Saturday night.

Friday: Walked a private country club and shot a 76, watched my buddy's 9i clubhead break and fly 100yd down the driving range, laughed when it came to hole 18 and it's a mostly island green and he put himself in 9i range...wound up hitting his PW just short into the bulkhead and kicked back into the water.
Saturday: Tried to qualify for the Glitch World Championships, was two strokes off (TWSS). Then went and tailgated for the Canes game and then watched the Canes tear open the Caps to take a 2-1 series lead. Game 4 tonight.
Sunday: Brunch at the in-laws, then a nice relaxing day and evening of watching hockey.

Mighty fine. Mom was up on her way to a weekend conference, so got to see her Friday and then Sunday.
Saturday the team did spectacular. All the kids got a hit off the coach, even the goofy one. We found out this weekend that his dad played college ball, so I know he had to be a proud papa. Kind of amazing to see these kids develop week-over-week, and validates that I do have some idea what I'm doing as coach. Later that afternoon we hit the yard hard, and got a ton knocked out. I had a shower beer as a reward, which I haven't done in a while. Glorious.
Sunday we all went to the Knights game and the weather cooperated. With it being Mother's Day, the kids got to have a catch on the field before the game, and run the bases afterwards. Knights also won on some fun action (balk sent a runner home, and also scored on a strike-out wild pitch). Came home and messed around with the fish tank. They're all happy, and we're ready to add the final batch of friends (Cardinal Tetras and maybe two more Cory Catfish).
5/5 fish tails.

Friday had dinner at Stella's at Bridgeway station. First time visiting there, it was all right. They need a bigger parking lot. I don't really love the fake old style of architecture but better than a strip mall. Came home and watched a little hockey.
Saturday headed out to farmers market and then artisphere. Spent money at both, got some cool prints including a tiger because tiger. Also got a nice little side table with cool inlay to hold my coffee cup next to my relaxin chair. Came home and chillaxed, made a sheet pan dinner.
Sunday got up and made Mother's Day breakfast. Strawberry and cream cheese stuffed french toast on some fresh challah. Then yard worked, spread some mulch and set up trellis for maters and cukes. Will find out if Helene knocked down enough trees to have enough sun for veggies. Then made ostrich tenderloin for dinner and watched a lil hockey.
Overall not bad pretty good, like I said.

Friday - steak and corn on the grill with baked potato. Started final season of Handmaid's Tale
Saturday- other MSynan went to beach with youngest. Oldest and I stayed home to car for dog and make her cupcakes for Mothers Day. Got lots of chores done, got in 18 of Golden Tee. My boys came over to watch Orlando City, and then after went to a party at a lake house until 2am.
Sunday - cleaned house for other MSynan. Made her crab legs for dinner. Wish I could have talked to my Mom
No live music but think I'm going to a show tonight

Don't forget to call your mom and shidd like that.
Had a few moments of "Fu>ck this sh>it" then I was good to go.
Got a good wife who is a great mother to my kids so I focused on that.

It was a good time ... more fun than I remembered or expected.
But good god, bowling alleys have changed since I remembered them. It didn't smell like 75 years of cig smoke had been baked into the walls, the paper/paint on said walls wasn't peeling, there wasn't a dude working the shoes that looked like emphysema, and I didn't once feel like there was a chance I could get shot.
They DID have about 25 giant screen tv's showing sports and music videos along the back wall, a full bar, a full menu of decent food, and modern scorekeeping screens.
Overall, it was a good time.

Only complaint: Two rounds of bowling + two sets of shoe rentals = $50+ ... after getting some food and drinks, I easily dropped a hundo on a night of bowling. Bowling.

wonder (or wander for FBCoach) if he was looking for you or looking at you.
There's was always a nice hue (or Hugh for FBCoach) you had to walk through as you passed the pool tables to go to the bathroom.

... you know, the guy who had one eye pointing at the door, and the other pointing at the grill? Always had you wondering if you was looking at you or the milkshake machine.

I knew Ted and Mac pretty much all my life. If they were busy I'd go behind the counter and refill my own tea, one lady asked Mac why he let me do that and he told her that I'd been eating there since I was 2 and I could do what I wanted.
First time I took a buddy there, he ordered a bacon cheeseburger from Ted. Ted looked at him and said "We ain't got no GD bacon cheeseburger, what the F do you want?!" I almost fell out in the floor laughing. Customer service was not Ted's strong suit.

And he hated those too. People would order them just to make him mad.***
