Why so you can complain about the next guy too?
Elliot is a class act. Great coach, he's got 2 national championship rings... how many other OC's have 2?
Who would you hire?

Because if you dont have nfl 1st round picks at qb, rb, and receiver your offense doesnt work at all......But if you want to keep having an offense ranked in the bottom half of all of the sport, then, cool story, i guess.

We not even competitive on that side of the ball. Ask wake forest if you need studs all over the field to make an offense work.

we started 3 upperclassmen on offense Saturday, including 2 true freshmen, and played 3 other true freshmen.
Where will Wake be next year? Where will Pitt be next year?
I guarantee you not 6-3.

Not only that but considering that the disruption that Covid has wrought for those 2 year and less guys vs those 6th year kids (I mean, imagine being on a college since DW4's era... wait, I can - I did it for 10 years - sigh) There has never really been a year that has favored experience this much in the college setting. Heck, you have a few kids having to go the PhD route (I think Memphis had a QB on that track) because they already earned their Bachelors and Masters ... what a world.

Now I dont care how injured or inexperienced you are, this is a team of mostly 4 and 5 star players, playing in the ACC. There is no way to sugar coat or excuse away where this offense is.

it's just data
Nov 9, 2021, 11:03 AM

you formed the below Hypothesis
"Because if you don't have nfl 1st round picks at qb, rb, and receiver your offense doesn't work at all..
based off data from this season.
TE is the constant in your experiment. Trever Lawrence and Deshaun Watson are the variables. This indicates the problem is the QB. there is a smaller pool of data from last year that indicates both TE and DJ are just fine. There is also data indicating there are problem sin the WR , OLine, and even on defense.
more than likely are just picking data to support the agenda you already are set on.

I already notated WR, you even acknowledged the fact. Also mentioned we sit at 1-8 without an elite D. Is the D perfect, no, but certainly good enough to hold their own in every game we have played this year. O-line has never been great, so thats not really a variable that has changed to any meaningful degree.
Point being - you shouldnt need 1st round pick level talent to be able to move the football in the ACC. Literally every other team in the league has proven that.

Those 2 NC rings were when he and Jeff Scott Co-OC's

They were great together but take one out of the equation then things fall apart
I have never personally met Elliot but he was once a Tiger (player) and will always be a Tiger. I am not denying he is a great guy but so far with he alone calling the plays I haven't been impressed. Just saying
And you can say look back at last year but I think Trevor Lawrence was years ahead of his time and could create plays that no one saw coming. He could read defenses before the defense even knew what they knew they were going to do.

With DW & TL plus other talent...

...there simply wasn't good reason to lose many games.
As far as OC talent... sure one could say Elliott was OC during the 2 championship wins, but he was also OC when Clemson's OL faceplanted HARD. And hard enough vs LSU and OSU where even having Lawrence was not enough when the scheming simply failed to produce when it was necessary on the field even with elite talent.
Lets remember those scores.. OSU 49 - 28 LSU 42 - 25. The offense was shut down in the 2nd half scoring 14pts vs OSU and only 8pts vs LSU. That's when Clemson historically tends to score more on opponents by as much as 3 to 1. But in those pivotal games the OL fell drastically .

Correction. He has two CO-CHAMPIONSHIP rings. We also had Jeff Scott. But I guess that doesn't matter because you can't put part of the blame on him for what we are seeing out of our only OC this season.

Don't care for the "but they won a Natty" excuse. Road is littered with former Natty coaches where program sank into oblivion. (see Phil Fulmer at UT) I hope this program never gets in the shape again where we coasted for years on a Natty like 35 years after the 81 Natty. If it ain't working, Fix it before it gets out of hand again.

Jeff Scott made TE look alot better than he was and having Trevor and ETN the last couple years was good enough to mask it. You could slowly see how bad the play calling was even with them, slow start after slow start.....putting all the pressure on the defense.
Literally the best thing that can happen (tho it may be a long shot), is TE taking a HC job anywhere and Jeff Scott realizing HC isn't for him right now and comes back to take back the OC job.

It’s your approval rating from the appointed board leaders . If it gets below 40 percent you are faced with banishment or mandatory re-education

Be careful of what you’re asking for - if TE departs, you want Streeter as your OC? We do inbreeding for our coaches.
