WATCH: Tony Elliott on Clemson's offensive struggles vs. GT
Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott spoke to the media following his team's 14-8 win against Georgia Tech on Saturday. “Really, really proud of our guys because we prepared for who we thought they were going to be, and they came out in a structure that was completely different than what we've Read Update » |

You honestly can’t help but laugh when you see/read this… Please step down so we can get someone competent in that seat. Or better yet, hey Dabo, make the change. It’s painful to watch anymore. I love my Tigers but man, something has got to give.

... and he has still won the Natty twice, two #2 finishes, and two other CFP appearances. He is, basically the only OC that has cracked the Bama defense wide open... three times.
show me another OC that has done the same?

I really think the two hour delay saved our bacon. we were lost and we found just enough to O win. We never seem to impose what we want to do on the D. With the skill players we have we should be able to do that especially on GT.

You are Sooooo right, 74tiger. The offense should impose its will on the defense. Elliott is so obsessed with calling the perfect play, he is paralyzed, so he goes conservative. Totally inept as a play caller. You watch, if we have a successful run, then we run every play forever. If the run is stopped, then we pass every play forever. My kindergarten grand daughter could predict the plays we run.

Teams are now going to challenge us to run, because they don’t respect our run game. This is where an offensive coordinator needs to earn his big paycheck and come up with a scheme that opens up the run game. You can’t just to resign yourself to a couple of yards up the middle every play.

You got it backwards. They are going to stuff the run because they have no respect for the deep passing game. Same thing is happening now as in the KB2 year. Have we even attempted a pass deep in the middle of the field all year? The TE has been all alone in the middle for 3 games and no one even tries to throw to him. The entire team is playing "Not to lose" on offense which come straight from the play caller.

Since Scott left and Elliot took over we have had two embarrassing losses in the playoffs. Now (without Trevor Lawrence ) we can only muster 14 points against GT. This is not the level of coordinator this team needs. If the offense would pull its Weight , our defense would shut people out. But instead. The offense has given opposing teams 9 points. I love Elliott, I remember when he played. He’s a class act. But he’s not ready to run a high level offense against the big boys of college football. Perhaps bring back Morris. Or a assistant. Something has to change. The rest of the ACC is licking their chops and circling Clemson game. Everyone one wants the program win. GO TIGERS!!

I couldn’t agree with you more. I think Jeff Scott was the heart and soul of calling the plays for the offense and I think Tony Elliot is way out of his league. It was funny because in the west end zone we were sitting up there and calling every play and we were never off and it got to be a game up there with everybody watching because we all knew what was coming on each down. And the players say they are one play away from the big play well I haven’t seen them attempt a big play yet downfield. Reminds me a lot of Kelly Bryant . I understand too that DJ has some off-field personal issues that may be distracting him and that his parents are going through a divorce and his father has been to see him and voiced his concern about his focus on playing. He is said to have concerns about his off the field antics, photo shoots and commercial advertisements and his demeanor taken on that of Cam Newton. I also understand he has friction with Tony Elliott.

That is the biggest bunch of hogwash I ever heard. Your offense should be structured such that THEY must adjust to stop YOU. Not the other way around. Terrible, terrible assessment by the coach. So by this assessment, if they change their defense, we are lost?? is that the attitude here? Sounds like it.

Elliott was confused with an unexpected defensive scheme from an unranked GA Tech.
Bless his heart.

I believe that is when you make adjustments... when the other team does something that you don't expect right??? At this point TE just needs to forward his entire check to BV, because defense is the only reason why we are winning games!

I love the still photo of the video preview...looks like he's trying to push out a poop. Since "best is the standard", I guess we better get used to these turd looks more often.

TE blaming GT’s defensive scheme…the delay was long enough…

…to head over to Jervey and run a practice to figure it out.
Come on TE, there’s more to you than this. We’ve all seen it.

Maybe Dabo should wait until after the BC game to fire TE. That would give him 2 weeks to make the difficult choice between all of the overqualified candidates on tnet. Go Tigers!!

In somewhat of defense for TE, maybe DJ is just Cole Stoudt 2.0 a single threat QB! Dabo and TE has never coached a single threat QB that took Clemson a BCS bowl or playoff game. TE called plays that fit a dual threat QB with an average O-line. DJ could not make enough plays. Kelly Bryant could have taken yesterday’s play ###### and had 4 scoring drives easily. The best O- lines in school’s history was ‘16-‘17 & ‘’17-‘18 seasons under TLawerence guidance.

But the staff knew that coming into the season. So either change the playbook to match your personnel or change your personnel to match your playbook. Either way a huge chunk of this debacle is on Dabo and the offensive coaching staff.
