Obviously Ruke and Trotter and Nate would be great in the bowl, but they are on to their next phase of life and wish them all the best. The transfers apparently werent all in, so better that they go. We've still got a strong team. Beat Blue!

I hate to say it or see it but everything that’s not a playoff game is just a high profile spring game. Even if you have a current starter that you project to be replaced by a freshman, it’s probably best to at least partially make that move. Winning bowl games don’t mean as much when both you and the team you are playing only have half your starters.

I dunno... try telling Dabo the Gator Bowl don't matter, he'll go off on you like Tyler from Spartanburg. Bowl games absolutely matter. It's another chance to showcase for your recruits, it's a great opportunity for players to get more practice and playing time and start to gel with new coaches coming in, it's a way to extend a winning streak and gain momentum headed in to next season, and it's another opportunity to climb the polls - you lose this game you snap our long streak of consecutive seasons ending ranked, and if you win not only do you stay ranked but you put our a good performance then they are more likely to rank you higher next season with a 12 team playoff on the line! Plus we got 3 SEC teams in a row, already beat SCAR, beat UK, then beat UGA and we got another SEC streak starting up! We pull that off we'll be top 10 in a goof position to control our own destiny for next year's playoffs, and yes! That starts with Kentucky Fried Wildcats!

Whether bowl games matter or not depends on whether the SEC wins most of their bowl games or not. It really is that simple. Just ask eSECpn.

It’s not that he doesn’t want them to win. It’s all about how money has changed college football.the only games that really matter nationally are the two that the top four play in. Everything else is irrelevant except for the fan base of the team. Even then if we were in the Duke Mayo bowl I bet 25% of those who will watch the Gator would find something else to do.
It’s sad to me how the game has changed. There is no more loyalty from the players. They are in it for the MONEY. Those that opt out this game to prepare for the NFL. They were supposed to be leaders. Encouraging their teammates to give it 110%. Then the last game of the year they bail. BS. It’s all about money and it stinks. Opting out only proves the game is irrelevant. They see nothing to gain by playing. All those statements about Love for their teammates just BS. In the end it’s all about Me. Not the team.
I love Clemson graduated in 91. But the game today, NIL, Transfer Portal it’s ruined the game in my opinion.
I’ll be watching but the team we field will not be the same team that won their last four games.
Go Tigers beat KU.

Bowl games are no more irrelevant now than theyve ever been

With the exception there are too many.
Pre CFP era there were bowls you knew impacted the national champion, whereas most of them did not.
You play for pride. You okay to learn more about next year. You play because you enjoy playing the game. You play for team. For your teammates and brothers annd another chance to play the game you love. To travel and take advantage of all the perks of a bowl game. You get to play teams you don’t normally play. Etc., etc.
Just because it’s not for a national championship doesn’t mean it’s, “irrelevant”.

For the me the Bowl games are now the start of the next season. I'd rather have guys opt out and enter the portal now, so the next man up gets all the practice reps. Get them on game film and then coach them up.

I remember when we played OU in Switzer’s last game. After we beat him, he commented ... “Those guys thought they were in a National Championship game instead of the citrus bowl”...

Since this is not the playoffs I have to say with the present status of all other bowls, I'd be just as happy if no one who won't be here next year plays. Great to see our newest 5-star (Carter) back so just get an early start on next year and see what we can do to get back in the conversation! Go Tigers.

I will check with Sammy Brown and/or his dad, to see if he is traveling to be with the team during bowl prep practices.

15 extra valuable practices is how I look at this. Then they play a game and you have tape to work with for the spring game. This is great that we have guys giving their all to prove they need to be the next man up. To me it’s not about winning the game. We need to build for the future for the playoff run next year with all in players.

This year those practices are even more critical as we have a new O-Line coach. Let’s see if he can make a difference in that short time.

I agree; it's a glorified practice session.
Finding out who wants to grind and who does not "is important" as one would imagine in high stakes CFB.
The young players who have an opportunity. The Soph or Jr's who haven't seen the field that much who believe they should have been getting more playing time. This is their time to show what they have!
All of them have a chance to get better as football players. Just get better during this practice session and the bowl game. Go home. Rest and come back ready for Spring ball.

Bowl games matter when your team wins ...

If they do not win, well clearly the game does not matter. Saving it for 2024.
