Interesting to note the variance between the experts who get paid to live in reality (book makers) and the “experts” who get paid to generate clicks …?

I happen to love David Hood

Getting paid to generate clicks & create engagement might not be as honest as Vegas line-setting work, but I don't think that means guys like David Hood can't also be experts.

Best bet Ive seen is taking the field against....

Aug 24, 2022, 11:18 AM

Bama, OSU, or UGA winning the championship
+270 for any other team vs. -340 for one of those 3
I don't bet, but if I did that would be the bet I would take.
UGA and Bama have a good chance at taking the other one out
The SEC West is highly competitive - Bama is the best team, but not unrealistic that they could slip up twice.
OSU looks great on paper, but has a reasonably tough schedule.

I like the field vs. those 3 - perhaps even on even money, but definitely with the +270.

where I bet Tigers at 12-1 to win it all. Winning it all takes a lot:

1) Recruiting / Player Skills
2) Coaching / Player / QB / Leadership
3) Overcoming Fear of the Big Moment / Big Stage

This is where Clemson, UGA, Ohio State and especially Bama have a huge advantage.

Teams that enter the CFB Playoffs are typically not ready for the pressure and the pageantry and implode or make enough small mistakes to let the game slip away. Of course, LSU, Joe Burrow and DC Dave Aranda were the exception. They were intelligent leaders, loaded with top NFL talent, and had been tested. Tom Brady is perhaps the best example. While other players and coaches become overwhelmed by the big moment, steady Tom just brings his same regular season effort which wins the day as the other team falls apart (Eli & Giants being an exception.) Obviously, the triggerman (the QB) is huge -- props to Stetson Bennet for being big enough to pull off the win with a great Defense (of course, the loss in the SEC champion made the natl championship possible. The SEC championship provided needed familiarity with Bama and the big stage, and UGA players & coaches gained realization they were better than Bama.)

Anyway, this built-in advantage makes Bama the juggernaut that it is, and Clemson, UGA & Ohio State prohibitive favorites every year. Go Tigers!

The outlier for us, as I see it when compared to the 3 others you mentioned, is depth.

We have an elite roster, make no mistake, as well as coaches, facilities & leadership who are just as elite.

Not using the transfer portal, something Coach Swinney hangs his hat on, doesn't fill gaps that create depth, particularly for a single season (rather than recruiting over time over the rate of attrition/outgoing transfers).

Our o-line, for example, was uncompetitive AND had injury last year. This year, they look inescapably more competitive, but depth is still a factor, wheras it's a noticeable advantage for the other 3 teams above.

Bottom line, a near-100% healthy Clemson is as good as any team in the sport in 2022.

Sure. Depth especially at OL is an issue, but I like the strides T. Austin is already making at least based on pre-season reports. The transfer portal is something Coach has been philosophically late to manage believing the h.s. process and reachability of the kids is more pure. Understand Coach Swinney's position and desire to be more than a football factory, and we'll see where it goes. So we hope for a healthy season and elevated play from the Offense.

I also came back from Vegas two weeks ago and got 12-1 odds from MGM. It worked in 2018 when I was last in Vegas and placed the win it all bet on our Tigers.

So Vegas likes the Tigers!! So I guess the biggest Alumni & markets do change Preseason predictions where it’s normal to have 5-6 SEC teams in the top 10.?

We keep getting better & better everyday, in every way!
“The only disability is a bad Attitude” Dabo Swinney!!
Let’s Go Tigers!

UGA isn't sniffing the CFP this season. They lost ENTIRELY too many
