ESPN's latest MLB mock draft has quarterback commit Bubba Chandler going ninth overall to the Angels. "The Angels have been all over Chandler all spring, and the chatter is Read Update » |

#5 MLB prospect just went down with Tommy John injury so I'd imagine our 3 recruits will move up one. Doesn't look good for our baseball program. More than likely loosing our top 3 recruits.??

Was Chandler planning to play baseball if he came to Clemson? I know Taylor was clear about that, but not sure I heard that about Chandler. Of course the point is moot because the rumor is that MLB team(s) have already signaled they will meet/exceed his target number to forgo college.

Can’t blame him, especially throwing 95 + fast balls with good command. Take the money & strive to start in the big leagues!
If you don’t make it the interest off the money will pay for his college.

Want to know why college baseball teams are not always what fans would like them to be? The MLB is allowed to draft High School grads and the money is too good to turn down. In this year's case, we will lose double because of football signees.

I know the NCAA obviously doesn't care but they should be ashamed of themselves. Think how many high school baseball players that choose to enter the draft not bc they want to but bc they can't afford the other 80% a baseball scholarship doesn't cover. kids who will never get that education and will muddle in the minors until they have no choice but to let baseball go and go get a real job. The percentage of high schooler's that never come close to making it is astonishing and the NCAA doesn't give one iota about them. The court of public opinion rules over even fact as we have seen this past half decade. If I were a college baseball coach, you know other than the ones who get built in advantages and play on uneven playing fields ie; Vandy, UNC amongst others, I would talk about how the NCAA don't care about the baseball loving urban youth of this country and how they disenfranchise all baseball loving youth by no allowing full ride scholarships.

It’s ridiculous they don’t get full rides, it would make more sense & it would help the game be more popular to fans with consistency in the game.
