Monte is blind...only reason top 10 is bc of guys who might not step foot on campus. 2019 was in 20’s. The 22 class is like 15 I believe right now.

Smoke and mirrors. Pick 5 colleges to compare to. Not how it's done. That's using funny numbers. As for 21 class, it's 9th now. But that includes Mack, Bubba, and Will Taylor. Plus the one other commit (can't remember name) but he, like Mack will doubtful ever come to play. Tell me what the final ranking is in September.
Same was claimed for 2020 class. At one time it was ranked high. But it dropped. Good they're looking at options but to me, they're looking for cya excuses and how can we spin this to make Monte look good.

Points. Vandy always seemed to have pitchers and hitters. 5 extra players, and seems like those they pay less overall.

If financial help really is a possibility, then the coach and ad should have been proactive and pursued it a couple of years ago instead of waiting and being reactive to a losing season.

Glad DRad chose to fully quantify how absolutely full of sh*t he is. Fire the coach that made the NCAA Tourney 95.4%, Super Regional 50%, and the College World Series 27% of the seasons he coached but keep the guy who is 80% for the NCAA tourney and goose eggs for everything else.
his words then: "It’s fair to say Clemson baseball has been competitive over the last few years, but our objective is success, defined by competing for ACC championships and winning in the NCAA tournament. I have high expectations -- and I know our fans and student-athletes have great expectations -- for our baseball program.” Other than season one Lee has not remotely met this standard.

Doesn't matter the level of talent coming in, IF fundamentals are not taught or stressed by the coach, then the average never get better and the good ones tend to get lazy & sloppy without high expectations.

Good start. Here’s the deal. Outside Clemson national scholars - there is slim pickings for academic scholarship money at Clemson. It’s ridiculous that academic achievements are not rewarded with scholarships for first-time and continuing students. We are funded like a private school from the state yet we have not changed one bit on putting together academic incentives for all students. It would help all our equivalency sport teams and all students. Don’t think university administration understands financial burdens attached to attending Clemson for middle and lower class economic levels. Get serious about an endowment and stop spending money like it grows on trees.

It's there for out of state as well as in state but isn't something like only 15% receive it. Or is it that it's barely enough to cover many expenses. Think you're definitely right but why? Why hasn't this been addressed b4 now. Why can't we use more of that lotto money that it was supposed to be a panacea to help ALL students.

One problem is that the Life Scholarship consumes 6X more of the lottery allocation than Palmetto Fellows. The Life scholarship qualifications are barely college eligible and many Life recipients can’t even get into Clemson or Carolina. When the program was created Palmetto Fellows was a full ride and now is less than half cost of attendance. The state should abandon the Hope scholarship. Increase the qualifications for Life and increase the awards for Palmetto Fellows. The qualifications for Palmetto Fellows aren’t that stringent.

My daughter was awarded a Palmetto Scholarship in 1998 ($5,000) and I don't think it would have paid even half of her tuition. Of course she decided to go out of state (Wake Forest 25k a year) and the scholarship did not go with her. When was the Palmetto started that provided a full ride?

Clemson tuition in 1997-98 was $3252 for a year and $7100 total cost of attendance. Palmetto Fellows recipients automatically qualify for Clemson merit scholarships that covered the gap. Today tuition is $15,558 and cost of attendance is $28,596. Even if we go strictly by Palmetto Fellows value, it covered 70% of cost of attendance. Today (Palmetto Fellows is worth $6700 freshman year / $7500 the rest of the time) the Palmetto Fellows covers 26% of the cost of attendance. As far as believing Palmetto Fellows in the early 90s was equivalent of a full ride I can only go by my experience, my sibling’s, my spouse’s, and her sibling’s. All 4 of us were Palmetto Fellows. Only I received any special extra or departmental scholarship. We all had full rides. None of us were part of anything like Top or National Scholars programs.
Palmetto Fellow officially began in 1988 it was obviously intended as a full scholarship - cost of attendance to Clemson in 1988 was $4500. The value of the scholarship has only been revisited once, in 1996 ($6700/$7500). The value hasn’t been adjusted in 25 years while college cost of attendance has risen exponentially.

Thanks for the info. I know I was disappointed that my daughter didn't take advantage of the Palmetto Scholarship, but we had promised her in high school that we would let her go to anywhere she could get in ..... and unfortunately that was Wake Forest. Not really, because she got a great education and a "free" laptop computer ..... all for 25k a year! However, she has remained a huge Tiger athletics fan ...... and will be sitting beside me at each home game this year!

All the state scholarships are just that - state money. Clemson must find ways to offer academic scholarships. It’s been a while since I’ve dealt with it - but 1998 until 2015- not familiar with merit money from CU except national scholars and some $ for finalists. But it’s been awhile.

Agreed but Clemson doesn’t exist in a vacuum. The Zell Miller scholarship in Georgia, which has significantly lower requirements than Palmetto Fellows, is 100% of in state tuition and can be used for 7 years. State schools receive all sorts of funding from the state and federal government. Scholarships are simply an indirect form.

It’s not exclusive to Clemson. Palmetto Fellows twenty five years ago was a full ride to Clemson or Carolina with cash left over. Now it covers less than half the cost of attendance and shrinking every year. Significant academic scholarships (let’s say 50%+ COA) at public achools are extremely rare. As “elite” schools like Vanderbilt and the Ivy move to a “need-based” tuition system families of elite students with upper middle class incomes or above, that formerly would have gone to those kind of schools, are moving to public colleges for the money - further squeezing the available money. I know one valedictorian of one of the ten biggest high schools in the state who didn’t even make the interview process for Clemson’s top academic scholarship (and their SAT and extracurriculars were top notch as well). And fake resumes are probably more the norm than not. The schools have no resources to follow up. It’s gotten ridiculous.

Elite private schools are NOT going to a funding model that makes it cheap or free for upper middle class families.
The ivy league schools claim that "most families who make $80k pay nothing" but there is a means test as well as an income test.
Anyone who makes $80k a year and has a kid ready for college and doesn't have assets is doing something wrong and shouldn't be rewarded for their own stupidity.

The same AD who has been unnecessarily criticized for supposedly not caring about baseball is working hard with the administration to help Clemson baseball be more successful.
For those of you complaining about this, what’s your deal? Would you rather the athletic department and administration NOT evaluate the program and look for ways to give our baseball program more of an opportunity to be successful?
