this is interesting. Allen's son could coach this position himself and yet they have Ben working alongside him. Clearly they think he brings something special to the table here. Ben gets to work with some great defensive coaches and he gets to share his passion and drive to hose playing linebacker. I am hoping it really sparks something that our D needs.

Something the linebacker group needs. And that attitude spreads over time.

Ben absolutely brings something to the table....... he's a Clemson legend and has the respect of every player who's working to be just like him.

So long as Ben buys into the Allen way of coaching, he's a piece of the defense that Allen can turn his back on (a little) and let him do his job while Allen spends more time on another need.

I don't know how much Ben knows about defense overall, but he sure knows how to be a linebacker and he's a tremendous asset to our team.

Agree 💯% with all comments above. He was a special player and will toughen these LB’s of ours just like he was.
Looks like our D is in great hands …..Finally!!!!!!

Love it!! We tried the Soy Boy approach which didn't work. Can't wait to see this team in action!

Ben is a great example from a great player. It’s about time we see some toughness from the linebackers although we saw a little of it from Woodaz last year.

Ben from radio interviews he was doing a couple of years back was clearly over the softness he was seeing since BV left. He knew that wasn't the standard. Now he is trying to do something about it. Gotta love him for that.

Absolutely been missing that edge at LB for the last few years.. I think this is going to showup real fast with the new schemes in place , and that edge we have been missing since DC Venebles left.
It's time to watch this Defense put a Clemson pounding on these teams in '25 ...
Go Tigers!!!

If we have a top 10 D, and I'm betting we will, there's no reason the natty shouldn't be ours. PWoo is getting the attention as he should, add in Amare which I think will be starting at the end of the year. Then with Heldt and Parker on the edge, woodaz, brown, Alexander... no reason they won't be the best front 7 in cfb this year. Should really help our recruiting on defense too.

That front seven should make our defensive backs a lot better too ....... and according to Dabo we need that, especially from the back-ups. We should all be excited about what we are going to see on the field next year. I can't help but think what some of our guys that left this year, like Barrett Carter, would have developed into with this new staff.

I’ll never understand why he didn’t make it in the pros. He seems like just what some of the pro teams need - a leader on defense.

I agree. I think the pros are first and foremost about measureables and often discount instinct and heart. I think that is why maybe someone like Hunter Renfrow was able to sit out an entire season, while in his prime, without a team beating his door down (assuming of course that did not happen).

Agreed. What he lacked in size, he made up for easily in intensity and knowing exactly where the ball is at all times.

Just didn’t have the physical attributes - speed and length. The NFL game is different. Ben was a great player for us and he will be a great coach.

Bet Ben will need his own “get back” guy to keep him off the field. Finally, it feels like the D is going to be back to the standard!

I believe that Ben has great potential to be a first class DC once he has a few years under his belt. Dabo may be looking to the future with this choice.
