Admittedly I’m not a regular poster but read yours everyday. With that said, I woke up today to the news of David Shaw retirement from Stanford. He cites the pressures of recruiting NIL and portal for the changing game. I’ve heard Dabo make similar declarations about paying players being his red line.

I recall Dabo’s early years and his friendship with Shaw. Likewise his desire to learn from the technology Stanford used in their program. He very much molded Clemson into a highly competitive athletic version of Stanford back then.

I look at things today and just wonder if this is a true slippage or simply overestimated talent. And I wonder with the terse responses and frustration from IPTAY if we may be seeing a similar trajectory to Stanford football and where this may lead us and who may lead us.

Be grateful for this time for these runs never last. Go Tigers
