Tiger field question

Mar 23, 2013, 2:39 PM

I don't see that many opponents fields, but is it common to have grass on the base paths between home and first...and third and home? Doesn't really look normal and seems like it would be easy to trip. Just curious how many college fields do this.

It is becoming more and more common in college ball. I see it a good bit in high school ball. It is becoming more and more common in the lower ranks because it requires less maintenance (I have prepped on fields with both and prefer the grass paths if I am prepping)

That being said it just doesn't look right to me as a baseball fan. With more and more schools going to artificial field turf it is the same type of deal (no real base path)

we had the grass paths at my high school when i played a few years ago and a lot of the other places we played had them as well. Its easier to keep up with since you don't have to worry about keeping up the dirt there. I've noticed its becoming more of a thing now, and i'd imagine its because of that reason
