while running in the HELLBENDER 100 since 5am this Friday morning (about 11+ hours now) and he’s at the 41 mile mark, tired as expected but pushing on and thanks all TigerNetters & TiGERS pulling for him.

As he gets more tired and worn down his speed decreases dramatically as has been the case in two prior years, so the 40 hour time limit b/4 disqualification is always imminent.

Remember too that the temperature can change by 30-40*, different clothing has to be put on, that running at night with a head band flashlight slows one down trying to navigate rocks, boulders, washed out trails and creek beds being crossed.

And going down slopes requires 2 ski-like poles to reduce the stress on the knees..and he’s packing 2 large containers of water on his chest vest, energy food, ski poles, heavy boots, etc. so a lot of extra weight.

Oh, his tracker device isn’t working so he texted me around 4:30 pm.

Go TiGER(s)!

Looking at the course map it looks like he's on the last...

.... major climb, then a long steep downhill. After that the climbs and downhills will be steep but not nearly as long.

Keep on keepin' on, Will!
