with the death of junior seau.the nfl down to highschool. the game will be dissolved as we know it,no more contact it will be a flag style game.just look into what i am saying the movement has started and under liberal lawmakers who have already reduced the the youth into being soccer players, not that soccer doesnt have its place in america say right below golf should be about right. another freedom is going to go away and ill bet we let it happen.concusions and lack of crowds cheering is making nfl players commit suicide.the government knows best and they will stick there fingers in this pie also.and the end of an american iconic sport will disapear.

Human Bubble manufacturers. Soon all lawmakers - liberal and conservative - will prefer it that way. Although the lawyers won't; they will have little ground for suing.

YOU HAVE A CHOICE TO PLAY FOOTBALL!!!!!!!
The people screaming about football damaging people's brains and bodies... well... are right! But so does the dude who wants to eat dairy queen and smoke weed everyday. IT'S A CHOICE. These guys KNOW what they are getting into before they put on the pads. It's part of the reason they get paid so freaking much. America disgusts me sometimes.

If America wants to keep men, women, and children safe. Start by getting Alcohol out of this country. Or give drunk drivers a sentence that when they get out of prison, they would never even ride in a car or a truck while drinking alcohol. If you drive drunk, 15 years first offense. Don't give them a second chance to kill innocent people. And leave FB the hell alone.

...board about drinking as some here will be all over you. Most here would absolutely demand that you recognize their "right" to drink; but when it comes to the penalty when they kill someone, the silence will make your head spin. Ans I can say this as a person who hasn't had a drink since 1989. The Death Penalty for DUI killers is okay by me...

If you really want football to continue but crazy injuries to stop, make them play without pads.

Well, you wouldn't see guys trying to lead with their head for a tackle. Lot more form from defenders and more evasiveness from ball carriers. This would help with injuries. Sounds weird but true

Soccer has its on problems with concussion studies. In a sport where your head is the second most often used means of moving the ball of course people think it causes long term issues. Only in America could we take the worlds game that has been played forever and find something wrong with it.

President Roosevelt saves the game. . .
Strange as it may seem, high school football, college football, and even the Super Bowl might not exist today if President Theodore Roosevelt had not taken a hand in preserving the game. As originally played on college campuses, the game was extremely rough, including slugging, gang tackling and unsportsmanlike behavior. Quite a number of players died (18 in just the year 1905 alone, with 20 times fewer players than there are today). Interest in becoming a football player was declining!
But Roosevelt saw merit in the game. It built bodies and could build character, a sense of team and never giving up. Ten of the Rough Riders, the soldiers who fought with him in Cuba, gave their occupations as football players when they enlisted in 1898.
So in 1905, President Roosevelt summoned representatives of the Big Three (Harvard, Yale and Princeton, the universities who first played the game and who also set the rules of play) to the White House. In his best table-thumping style, Theodore Roosevelt convinced them that the rules needed to be changed to eliminate the foul play and brutality.
As a result, the American Football Rules Committee was formed and, in 1906, plays designed to open up the game and make it less dangerousd to play were introduced. Some of the changes made included:
the introduction of the forward pass, the distance to be gained for a first down increased from five to ten yards, all mass formations and gang tackling were banned. Football became less dangerous to play, injuries and deaths decreased, and it became more fun to watch.

Absolutely wrong. First of all, football as we know it is NOT going anywhere. It generates too much money for too many people. Second of all, even if it were true, why blame "liberals"? Are players not getting hurt and seriously injured at an alarming rate these days? What do liberal lawmakers have anything to do with that?
Just sounds like another pissed off conservative to me...

Perhaps you were in the housing projects with her, I can't speak for that. But about three years ago she did criticize the NFL for not providing benefits to former players who were suffering from a far from naturual number of brain disorders. The NFL has since begun to do that.
It does help to read more than a headline...or watch Fox News.

...but liberals, and "po-asses" like yourself are usually worried about the wealth of others...something that at *some* point in their life they didn't have which then turns into envy. Otherwise you wouldn't defend Maxine Waters...

..unfortunately, what seems to happen, is that when some people obtain that wealth, they then contract a case of "Afluenza"; they now despise the system that made them wealthy. And the only way to fix that would be to go after the wealth of others....

Some quotes...from ole Maxine...
May 7, 2012, 2:52 PM
[ in reply to Well, not quite... ] |
|
"I think it's time for the Congress of the U.S. to take a look at your antitrust exemption," she said. "You're an $8 billion organization who has not taken seriously your responsibilities to the players."
She said the NFL needs to recognize that injuries will always result from professional football, no matter the rules or the equipment.
"The question is, what are you going to do? Are you going to pay for it? Are you going to pay the injured players and their families for the injuries that they have received helping you to be a multibillion operation?" she asked. "I know that you do everything you can to hold onto those profits. And I think the responsibility of this Congress to take a look at the antitrust exemption that you have, and in my estimation, take it away."
Sounds like to me, she hates the fact NFL has all that money..hates the idea of profit...

I agree, but as in an work situation, one always has to consider the future. I'm sure the players must be aware to some extent of the probable condition of their bodies after playing in the NFL...and they should plan accordingly, or don't play the game.
