What could go wrong?
What’s next? Westboro BC gonna file an injunction against some random hospital when a patient needs a stem cell treatment for NH lymphoma? Which whacko fundamentalist judge will hear it while little Bucky dies untreated.

The FDA, while certainly not infallible, is in a far better position to judge what is safe medically than a lawyer sitting on the bench.
Liberals have used the courts for years to gain objectives they could not achieve properly through legislation.
As a conservative, it is bothersome and irritating to see the same now from some conservatives.
Judges making law from the bench is bad regardless of whether it's a liberal judge or a conservative judge.

uh, we already castrated the FDA decades ago. They do not have the resources to run clinical trials any longer, and it takes years and even decades to get medications approved. Currently let the dug companies self report, and we saw how that went with Purdue Pharma and the millions of lives that impacted.

I believe drug companies should be required to report

the results from all trials, rather than the current practice of releasing only the favorable results while burying many of the not-so-good ones.
For example, if you look at the research on SSRI drugs for mild-moderate depression, the bulk of the research (published and unpublished) shows that they are no better than placebo. But they are currently approved for, and prescribed for, mild-moderate depression all the time because the drug companies produced a few (flawed) studies showing that they were effective.
SSRIs are clearly needed for more severe depression, so I'm not arguing against them being approved. But the nuances of what they are approved for, and should be used for, are important.

I would like to see the FDA loosen their requirements

for drug and therapy approvals, which are often too strict and cumbersome - especially for health conditions which are life-threatening and/or cause significant quality of life issues.
But we absolutely need an agency like the FDA with science and medical people, rather than legal minds with little to no medical knowledge, making these decisions.
