BigDaddy has some history in Salisbury and is related to this guy. Matter of fact, bears a bit of resemblance to.

Dr. Elmer Rhodes Hoke was the son of Edward J. and Mary Margaret Rhodes Hoke. The Hokes were a distinguished family of educators. He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, PA where he earned a bachelor's and master's degree. He used his stenographic skills to help pay for his college expenses. He was the author of "The Measurement of Achievement in Shorthand" which was used in commercial schools. He married Mary Heller of Biglerville, PA in 1916. He was a 1917 graduate of the Lancaster Theological Seminary. He was pastor of Reformed Churches in Trafford, PA and Baltimore, MD from 1917-1920.He earn his doctorate at Johns Hopkins University in 1922. He was professor of education and psychology at Hood College, Frederick, MD from 1920-22 and at Lebanon Valley College, Annville, PA 1922-24. He was chosen president of Catawba College in August 7, 1924 and the college opened in September 1925 when it moved from Newton, NC. He immediately set out to raise a $400,000 endowment and continued fund raising for Catawba. He employed several outstanding faculty who taught there for 40 years. Eight new buildings were erected during his seven year tenure. During that time the student body grew from 137 to 386 students. He was in much demand as a speaker. One of his proudest accomplishments was conferring a bachelors degree on his wife who entered the first freshman class at Catawba and graduated with honors in 1929.

When things are good, they are good.

When things go bad, they implode.

How many times did we get run ruled?
