It's likely caused by one of two things, neither being good.

One possibility, the most likely, are hedge funds cashing in on basis trades. The other, foreign countries (likely China but probably others) are selling large swaths of treasuries. Either way, the bond markets are not acting as they should, facing what the equities markets are doing. I mentioned this yesterday, and only time will reveal the source or problem. Oddly, the dollar is remaining strong in the face of all of this, but I think it is the last, and ultimate domino to fall, IF THIS KEEPS UP.

By destroying the economy, and especially the dollar, Trump can then reduce, or even remove the benefits we enjoy from foreign trade. If we get as poor as Vietnam, or China, or the countries we trade with, then the scales can tip in favor of factory/industrialized jobs and Trump's dream.

Make America Poor Again. Then American will work like Trump envisions, and his promises can come true. Low interest rates, deflation or low inflation, low gas prices, and all these new and wonderful factory jobs to replace lawyers, accountants, IT specialists, computer engineers, software developers, chemical engineers, chemists, etc.

And the elephant in the room are the US deficits.

That's Congress.

I've given my solution to this. Aside from my suggestion, we will collapse.

This section is fun:
“At the same time, Treasurys are under particular scrutiny because they are so widely held domestically and internationally, and because some of the countries that are facing large tariffs are viewed as holding large enough amounts of U.S. debt to make the “nuclear option” of outright sales by those nations a familiar worry point in the market.”
