Some illegal gets hurt on the job. Talk to the American citizen contractor who hired him and he's as anti-illegal immigration as they come. Yet he hires and pays them and they work harder for less and make him more money.
I always wondered what would happen to these contractors in construction if their beliefs and politics were ever acted upon. The hypocrisy has been more than palpable for decades.

WC claim filed. Medical care. Surgery/physical therapy/meds, etc. Then paid PPD.
Of if they die, then death benefits.
And while all of this goes on, everyone lawyers up and points fingers. Coverage usually falls on some assigned risk carrier/policy, usually a ghost policy. Or the state uninsured employers fund, but usually a ghost policy.
GC is GOLD in this process, btw. He doesn't get penalized, keeps his minimal coverage, and goes out and hires some more illegal's, while voting for the party who wants to ship them all home....that never does.
There are so many layers of fraud and abuse it can make your head spin. Starting with medical care. With their own set of fraud overcharging insurance carriers. Then the illegal who is here, well, illegally. Then the ghost policy, which ends up covering $10 million in medical care, for life, with $800 premiums paid. Much cheaper if he dies, only $350k max, at the time, now $500K max, still cheaper than millions in medicals.
So you have insurance premium fraud, immigration and employment fraud, and then medical fraud, all nicely represented in a single injured worker's claim. Best part, is no one does crap about ANY of it. Too much money to be made, and saved.

does just half what he claims he will do, it will be amazing. The MAGA farmers who will suddenly have crops rotting in fields, right to the MAGA GC who will see his profit margin disappear as he has to pay Americans more money for less work to frame houses, to the MAGA hat and t-shirt guy who gets all his merchandise dirt cheap imported, to.....the list is endless of people who are going to be nailed in the FO phase of things.

Great but who is gonna do those jobs Muricans will not do? You can say kick those on welfare off and they will do them but we both know that ain’t happening.
So we boot out all illegals we end up with limited food, way higher prices while wallowing in filthy spaces. Nirvana right?
While I fully support an immigration system that vetted incoming folks anddenying them government benefits for a specified period of years . this country simply cannot function without their labor.
Just an example from last week, I needed 2 maple trees 40 foot tall removed. Got a bid from white boys at $3k, a guy who was recommended bid $800 and a company who could remove trees, cleanup and grind stumps for $1k. The $1k company got the job, owner may have been legal but the crew of 8 that showed up I certainly doubt were legal.
So to hire the white boys would have been 300% more to do the exact same job. Now figure out the increase in costs across the economy based on this small example.

You don’t see a problem with companies only being able to survive and have competitive prices by using illegal labor ?

Not just companies but everyday folks, just wait because if they kick out all illegals nobody is gonna be able to afford dookie.
We are in a circular loop as far as companies, they must do every little thing they can to meet Wall Street. expectations or be punished. Now as most pensions be they private or public depend upon the gains of the markets to fulfill the payouts getting crushed is not in anyones best interest.
What i see is companies getting rid of human labor as quickly as possible, not good for the humans though.

That’s the problem though, right? We’ve built a system where we can only survive through illegal labor paying unlivable wages.

DO not underestimate going off the gold standard to finance an illusion of a middle class either. The whole system is a mess but in truth all systems are a mess. It just depends on who can stand the longest before collapsing.

work in the US. It's going to hurt for a while and Trump's admin won't survive it anyway. It will make prices go up even more and add to the reasons The Pubs will get rolled in the mid-terms.

Apples and oranges. Repubs were for shutting things down as well by the way. Dems were more extreme, but Repubs were in in too. Everyone overreacted, it was nuts. That said, your post is once again an idiotic one and has no place in this thread.

Honestly, this is probably the best tactic for fighting illegal immigration and it doesn't require Gestapo tactics. As Tiggity said, these guys hiring them are as angry anti immigrant as they come yet have no problem being the hypocrite who hires them. Start making it too risky to employ them, and they have no reason to come here because there will be no fewer jobs.

It seems simple. Give them no benefits or help of any kind if they come here. Have a tough border and have them wait on the other side while seeking asylum. Fine the employers. That problem is solved. Then the economic disaster hits us, but the illegals aren't here though.

And it's pretty bad timing with Trump purposefully and actively wrecking the economy. Americans don't want these jobs, but we either keep them available and have the immigration problem continue, or we crack down on them.

I would prefer we just have tough borders, unlike Biden's, but some will still get in. Don't offer any government aid when they get here. Then leave all the companies alone. There will still be plenty to work. I am around them all the time here in Los Angeles. I don't mind them at all.

When I worked in Ca. I was issued a paper paycheck, one that had to be taken to the bank to deposit. All the area banks had a special line for wire transfers back to the home countries for illegals, always packed. That was back in the early 80’s.

My maga uncle runs a crew of almost entirely of illegal immigrants at his landscaping job. He told me that he doesn't care if they were all hauled off and send to El Salvador.
He simply ignores, or doesn't care how this might negatively effect him. So I say, let him FAFO.

My first job out of college a hundred years ago as a restaurant manager we had to make sure the I-9s were in order; that's not new. If these companies weren't following the correct procedures then drop the hammer on em.
