This two loss season will rank with 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990 disappointment. Each one of those years we finished strongly. We beat Joe Paterno’s Penn State. We beat Barry Switzer’s Oklahoma. We beat Illinois in a bowl game. We beat Major Harris’s West Virginia team.
Each year we had two regular season losses that we shouldn’t have had. Each year we got better as the season went on. Great defenses. Lots of NFL players. Just could never put together an undefeated season.

We should have won the 2015 natty. No one bothered to advise the team to watch for the fake punt. Bama was lucky we weren't watching for that.

87 NC State and South Carolina, 88 NC State and FSU, 89 Georgia Tech and Duke , 90 Virginia and Georgia Tech. I was trying to remember the losses off of the top off my head. Did I get them right?

Those were my years at Clemson. NC State had our number. If not for allowing Deion Sanders a freaking PUNT RETURN for touchdown, the puntrooskie likely never happens or is irrelevent. Still, a very different time in football and life in general.

Tgrchd, You got them exactly right, and we should have won all of those games. I remember them all. Some of Danny Ford's best teams didn't play well a couple of games every year, and some fans complained like they do now. Maybe the same people.
That 1987 season was only Clemson's fourth 10 win season in history, but we've had many since, and should appreciate them.

People have no idea how difficult it is to go undefeated.

Few teams in any given season have a realistic shot at doing it and even far fewer than that actually get it done. I’m thankful for all the great seasons we’ve had the last few years. It’s not unusual for good teams to drop games they should win we are just not used to it happening to us.
