What are you basing that statement on? If we win the next two and sit at 12-1, how are we not worthy of being in the top six unless there are six undefeated teams ahead of us? There won’t be. TCU was just bailed out by the refs or they would’ve lost to an unranked Baylor team. Ohio State struggled with a terrible Maryland team in Georgia look very unimpressive over Kentucky. Clemson is just as good as these teams. Just depends on whose day it is

I assume you mean by not playing a complete game you’re crying about the scoreless (offensively) third quarter. So, by that logic, a playoff team should never be held scoreless in quarter of football. That would mean that can’t play a complete game.?
So let’s look at Georgia - the unanimous #1 team
Samford (SAMFORD!) - failed to score in the 3rd quarter. Only a single field goal the entire second half.
USuC - only a field goal in the 4th quarter. Not a very complete game.
Missouri - scoreless first quarter. 6 pts at half. Not a complete game.
Auburn - scoreless first quarter
Tennessee (who has NO defense) - scoreless 4th quarter, 3 points the entire second half.
Kentucky - Scoreless 4 quarter and only 16 points of total offense.
So the #1 team had managed a complete game less than half the time they play. So if the #1 team doesn’t deserve to be in playoffs by your standard, who exactly does?

I was responding to the OP which said we didn’t deserve to be in the playoffs because of our performance in the Miami game. So your reference isn’t really relevant to this thread.

a complete game, and is a comment directed at something that took place in the Miami game.
Clemson played a complete game on defense, single greatest performance, 98 total yards allowed, since 2009 & Coach Steele's defense held Boston College to 54 total yards.
So unless the OP was hitting the hard liquors, the reasonable "This" was the offense stubbing its toe in the 3rd quarter - the timing of the OP would seem to support "This" as well.
viztiz's list is directed at "This" and shows how Georgia, current #1 in all the land, has done "This" in quite a few games.
It's a really good list.

the list is terrible and here's why: it totally disregards the multiple times most of those teams handled business in a way that screams: this team has it going on.
We were about to have this w FSU, but we let off the gas. We could've had it w Syracuse but we had to come from behind w a diff qb to win. We were in a shootout w WF .. we really didn't look good w GaT.... We found a way to win, but last weekend may be the first game this season for which we passed the eye test. Our competition has been doing it consistently through the season.

viztiz's comment was clearly qualified, pointed, could not be more perspicuous, unless you or others try and make it about something that it was not, which you are.
A lot of studies concerning the "whys" people can't follow the "This"s; entitlement and laziness are two of those.

It depends on who it is and who is looking...ESPN needs little to diss Clemson but can ignore a whole season of crap by LSU...how do they even get in the conversation...got beat by FSU and curb stomped by Tenn! Eye test is so important for CCC cause they are looking for a reason and any will do!

Not that our offense does not look inept at times, but passing the “eye test” is you when have a great offense and defense does not matter.
Tennessee was passing the eye test with a defense that had been complete trash all year. It finally caught up with them.
All teams are flawed, the question is do you really think TCU, Michigan or USC are that much better than the Tigers? I don’t. Not when you look at the balance of the team as a whole.

People thought Tennessee passed the eye test bc their offense was impressive. Our defense is quite good. If we didn’t turn the ball over for two scores at ND, that game doesn’t go past 21 points, maybe 14 points. Defense wasn’t the problem. We are a good team. We can compete. Probably won’t win a national championship but we look capable of winning our conference.

After the ND game, I did believe the Tigers deserved the playoff. After the past two weeks, I have changed my mind. Clemson is playing football as AC/DC as anyone else. If the correct dominos fall( TCU and USC), I absolutely want to see Clemson in the CFP.
