New standard for excellence in college football established tonight.

What do we need to do to be able to compete at this level?

Better coaching, better recruiting more NIL $

And unfortunately, Clemson will never be able to compete with the big dogs with regard to money for NIL. It’s just not going to happen.

I disagree here Sterling. Money isn’t the issue. It’s the willingness to spend it on transfers. We will spend it on high school recruits and current players. We are also not paying as much for elite players coming out of high school. That’s by choice. Granted, we are still behind in the NIL coffers, but we will catch up and not having enough money really isn’t the issue here…. It’s a willingness to do what other schools are doing.

Maybe… But Clemson’s alumni base and I assume therefore the revenue for that alumni base is much smaller and certainly nowhere near as wealthy as the teams we would like to be competing against.

Spend the money to buy the best coordinators like we did to get there. Now we are over paying for our staff and we are no where near the top like we were. Dabo used to share some of his salary to get the best. Now he has the second largest and doesn't share any with our staff.

Two unproven coordinators and they did what this year?

Under performed, surprising I know,

This is a big part of it

Dabo's "keep it in the family" thing with coordinators is outdated and self-destructive.

To compete at the highest level, he must adapt to the times.

What do we need to do to be able to compete at this level?
Flame away if you want but the first thing you do is get Jeff Scott back as your offensive coordinator. Streeter isn't cutting it.
Second thing you do is get a strength and conditioning coach, devise a year round program and stick with it.
Third is use the portal but use it wisely. Pick and choose the guys you think might help the program.
And finally if a player isn't getting the job done don't stick with him just because he is "your guy".

Hire an innovative offensive coordinator who can develop wide receivers and qbs. I think we should give Wes a chance to see what he can do before taking a hard look at defense.

Yeah, I think we saw what a real OC looks like, last night. Bennett looked pretty "developed", too. We need to find one like that.

The NIL money worries me. Clemson's great run started when we pumped millions into facilities. I remember other schools saying they couldn't compete with that and we had the advantage and it wasn't fair so the same thing is happening to us now except we are on the other side.

Where are you guys seeing the monies Clemson has in its coffers in comparison to other teams? Link?
