National champions four years ago. Citadel grad, fired mid season with a winning overall record. Wonder if it was more than wins and losses factored into the decision

We fired leggett for way less and haven’t sniffed Omaha since.

Well if you delete the Monte Lee years, we’re doing okay! Ha

I’d say hosting a Super is “sniffing” Omaha.
We’ll get there next time.

but still needed two more years. so i guess we didnt sniff it for the first 14 years. And agree, we are on the right track. been forever since ive been excited about clemson baseball.

Mississippi State knows they can’t afford to fall much farther behind in the SEC. If you know your slipping, theirs no reason to have a Clemson/Monte Lee situation where you fire a guy a year too late.

No where in America is college baseball as important as it is in Starkville , Mississippi. They’ll be able to pick from the top of the barrel for that job

We hadn't sniffed Omaha in Jacks last 5 years either. As a matter of fact we weren't sniffing Super Regionals anymore either

This is the only sport they can really compete in in the new college sports era- and it doesn’t help that just lost a mid-week game to Ole Miss which is what really matters to them.

Can’t imagine Bakich sniffs that job. It’s Starkville. Most appropriately named town in America.
