All adults making a bad decision. University will probably be held responsible for the accident if the vehicle was rented by the school and the driver was intoxicated. It could have been any college. Hope it was the first time these young ladies had done anything like this when out in a vehicle rented by UGA. Most of us made some stupid decisions growing up. We can all look back and say “Man I was lucky”.

Amen ! I am grateful for that I never hurt anyone during my days of stupidity.

As far as liability. It my be split between 3 possibly 4 insurance companies with UGA kicking in some money. But this person most liable is the one driving if the driver was intoxicated.

My Grandmother use to tell me nothing happens after midnight when you’re out. I have to somewhat agree with her.

Prayers for all involved. It’s sad a kid so young doesn’t get a do over from this mistake.

My thoughts on the Incident.

16

Jan 25, 2023, 5:50 AM

First and foremost, it is a tragedy. We should all feel grief and sorrow for the families of the two players and also for the woman who was seriously injured.

But, now, just looking at the facts of what happened.

I'm gonna put the most positive view possible and leave out the sex of the people involved. Not gonna talk about what might have been going on.

1. Two employees of UGA football, 26 years old, walked out of a building with 5 football players at 2:30 in the morning.

2. It appears from the video that the employees were leading the group of 5 players.

3. The 7 people walk together, the 2 employees out front, a few blocks and disappear from camera view. A few minutes later a vehicle comes down the street. The person on the passenger side front seat is identified as one of the employees.

My question is this - Why are employees of the UGA football program out with five football players at 2 AM? It was clearly a social event. It was not football related.

If I'm a parent, I have serious questions as to the judgment of the University that would think it is appropriate for staff to take players out on the town at 2:30 in the morning. If I'm the AD or President I have serious questions like, "What the heck were 2 employees doing fraternizing with 5 football players at that time of the morning?"

The Journal posted in the last couple of days that they are investigating not only why staff members were out at that hour with players, but also whether the staffers were authorized to use the leased recruiting transport vehicles after hours. They also obtained a copy of the recruiting analyst job description. Apparently the AJC still has a couple of investigative reporters.

Could be career ending moves for UGA employees and for what ? Very sad situation and poor judgement. Some may not agree but leadership starts with the AD and HC of UGA. Lead by example.

Why are 5 UGA football players at a strip club? Why are UGA employees at a strip club? Why are they all out at 3 am ? What happened to curfews for players??

It’s just my opinion but Kirby seems to run his program like Urban ran FU and OSU, little to no accountability ! As long as you are winning !

Five football players going to a strip club is probably fake news...with university female `recruiters` is a stretch...in a university rented vehicle! Maybe protecting them from close encounters of the third kind! Don't look good for jawja!

FU or OSU how about FSU and LSU...rape, crab legs & $100 bills make for a bad time for all! These are still young people and everyone knows that some young people do stupid things...a athletic staff recruiting employee has no business out with 5 male students at 2 0r 3 am visiting a local exotic dancing studio in a university rented vehicle...someone must have authorized a staff member to go on this excursion...don't think anyone would be stupid enough to risk a university job over an audition at a local dance studio!

I haven’t read all the reports, but it seems like only those two players were identified. Was this a recruiting trip? Are there any recruits with them? I’m not sure of the timing or if it was dead period or not. Given that a recruiting staffer was out at 2 AM at a strip club, they very well could’ve been hosting recruits. And while they may not be in the group that was identified in the picture, remember, they left 30 minutes after the club closed so the recruits may have left earlier.

Follow up questions are needed

2

Jan 25, 2023, 11:58 AM

If in fact there were recruits:
These recruits would be 17-18 year olds. Would the club let a 17 year old in?

Why are University Employees attending a strip club?
Why are female University Employees attending a strip club? With other male companions?
Why are Employees socializing with students? As females? At a strip club?
Is this part of their recruiting?
Would Kirby not know that this was going on?

Just to play devil's advocate (and I feel naive as I type this), is it possible the players were out (by themselves) and called the two staffers to pick them up?

Not trying to excuse anything else that happened, but just hoping there were some good intentions (somewhere) in this tragic story.

Not sure if it would have made any difference. I am thinking these ladies may have been involved in some type of relationship with one or two of these guys imo.

Be kind of strange for any university to say this was the procedure.

These are all adults older than 18. They can go to strip clubs, they can have immoral heathenous relations. It’s America and it’s 2023. The only violation possible is if anyone under 21 was drinking alcohol, the university paid for it and was behind the wheel. Next!

The same guy hands something to the passenger in the vehicle in front of them then tries to give them something as well. Probably some sort of solicitation. I know when we go to Myrtle Beach to play golf there are cards that advertise free admission to strip clubs being given out in lots of bars/restaurants. My guess would be something like that.

Who was SUV registered to? Was there any alcohol in blood of driver? What age do you have to be to get into the club? Who paid if any for club entrance? Whose idea to go to the club? I would think UGA going to offer quiet settlement to those families to avoid what could be an ugly court proceeding with information coming out that implicate others.

So some young football players and young female football employees went to strip club. And the female driving may have used poor judgement getting behind the wheel if she had more than 1-2 drinks? Or, she may have just been speeding and there was an unfortunate accident. So what? Sorry that two young lives were lost but really, why is this such a big deal?
Was anyone on this board raised in Clemson, attended the school, and observed what athletes in the past have been involved in? I was and I have and I have seen plenty that makes this look like a bible study class. There just kids, seemingly well behaved, until there is a car crash.
Some perspective is really needed. Players in the current era are well behaved at all schools in general and unseemly conduct is microscopic compared to the 70's, 80's. and into the 90's. If we went back and documented all that went on around Clemson involving football and basketball players then we would not even have those two sports at Clemson. The UGA situation is really "nothing here to see" other than possibly some poor judgement by a university employee. If all she did was escort them to the strip club and in fact was sober, then I'm sure there are likely bigger problems in the world to address than her use of school vehicle to transport someone after dark as opposed to having them walk.
