If Alabama really wanted Dabo

they would have come hard at him right out of the gate and would probably have had a decent chance of getting him. But, I doubt Dabo liked being the 5th or 6th coach they called. If, as reported, Alabama reached out yesterday for the first time, you know that did not sit well with Dabo.
I'm now more convinced than ever that our coach is remaining a Tiger. He isn't a "walk on" coach which is how they were treating him when they should have been treating him like a 5* if they really wanted him. Having Norvell as a higher priority was just adding salt to the wound.

Such as his recent response to Tyler from Spartanburg.
At least he’s never failed at anything though.

He’s failed before; he just doesn’t make it a habit.

And not based on ego but an indication of support. Not to mention why others are reluctant.

I don't know if Coaching there is a bucket list item for Dabo or how many more years he wants to do this. I hope he stays though because we'll have massive transfers if he goes and it will level our program.

I think Alabama was a huge pull for him but I also think he is proud of what he has built at Clemson so that makes the consideration even tougher. Also, don't underestimate the good relationship he has with Saban. Who knows what those conversations might have revealed.

And how do you know Bama didn't come after Dabo and he only fell down the list after he said NO?

I don't know for sure but several other coaches have spoken to them and been on campus, and it has been reported they supposedly reached out to Dabo for the first time yesterday. My point is basically that if Dabo was their man from day one, and they really went after him like he was their top pick as soon as Saban retired, it might have made a difference. Optically, it just doesn't look like he was a priority until others started dropping out.

He was their first choice. Of course, they reach out to several candidates at a time, but Dabo was #1, Lanning was #2. Both have said no. Of course, they could change their minds I guess, but they have both said no.

Just curious, where are you seeing it reported that Dabo was their #1?
