That’s one of the surprising features of the game. The most hyped elements in the off-season are the worst.

Offense is so good and keeping the D on their heels - haven’t been good
LBs are so good, best in the country - haven’t been good
Kicker is so good, unlimited distance - haven’t been good
DE depth is a problem - has been good
