Does he have an answer as to why we didn't line up under center?

Now Hear this, now hear this, everything that has happened this season and last season is entirely on Dabo fumbling the coaching hires starting with Tyler Grisham being hired as the wide receivers coach on Feb. 6, 2020, and one after another inexperience coaches were hire on down the line of our coaching staff. He brought in an experienced OC and gave him a bunch of inexperience coaches to assist him, and now that is making a successful coach look clueless!!!

Here’s an answer Dabo, throw the ball to your TE Miami was playing all for the run it was there and you run the QB with no blocking orange jerseys, it stood no chance from the get go

It kind of makes you wonder why our QB feels like he has to try and do more than he is being asked to do. Does he not trust the calls he is being given? He looks a bit dazed and confused under pressure. Does that sound like anyone else who has played the position lately? And is the common denominator poor direction and development from our coaching staff? Is he having to try to please more than one coach and having trouble deciding who he should be listening to?

It seems in critical situations, Cade takes the wrong read option - just call a play under center without an option.

He didn’t have the option. That’s the point of the article. He didn’t run the play that was called.
I think we’ve seen this a bunch of times now, and it’s very concerning if our QB1 is not listening to the coaches.

Cade has yet to realize that the five stars beside his name in high school don't transfer over to college. College defenses don't take it easy on you just because your Texas high school fawned over you.

Well Mafah’s fumble against Duke was an OL helmet punching it out, because he got shoved back into Phil.

With a still wet behind the ears QB and and offensive line composed of slow weaklings it is a disaster that has brought down a once feared program.

Well…..that’s twice he’s not run the play that was called that potentially cost us two games. I don’t know how you continue to play him. V has four games he can play and keep his redshirt. He’s probably going to hit the portal anyway….give him some reps. And, once again….we fumble on the goal line🤷

Plenty of contributing factors to the loss before that. That one is just the crutch for Dabo to lean on.

Agreed. Had we XLS ired, Our chances of. Inverting 2pt were slim anyway. We lost the game in the first half. Second half was a decent half. First half was a crap show. Honestly, DEFENSE IS NOT THAT BAD. In modern football, the number of points it allows is pretty respectable. Offense and special teams just Royally suck!

I have an answer for him. It’s painfully obvious that the QB has lost all faith in the playbook and after repeatedly doing what you’ve called to no avail has decided to take matters into his own hands to try and win a ball game. While I agree this isn’t the right approach, it’s indicative of a much larger underlying problem we all see and some choose not to believe. Those of us unable or unwilling to engage in this cognitive dissonance can see it and aren’t afraid to say it out loud, even if it means you will call us bandwagoneers or whatever other gas lighting term you choose this week

Agree with this 100%. Cade shouldn't be taking matters into his own hands trying to be the hero, but the fact that he feels he needs to shows just how dysfunctional this offense is from the top down.
Fire Grisham and Thomas, let Riley hire his own assistants, and let him call the plays.

I'd rather hear the answer to:

as disappointing as that final play was, this falls on coaching. and not just that one play. getting shoved around on the o line is pretty regular these last few seasons but never thought the d line would take such a beating. Can't imagine how ugly it will get when the irish roll into town. the lack of aggression was down right disgraceful and we've seen hints of it before last night. i appreciate where dabo took us but where he is taking us now is shameful. and it may take a few more years of this debacle before he realizes we're on the wrong track. with a 60 mil plus buyout brace yourself tiger fans!! our only hope is stubborn pride will be repented of and dabo returns to the coach we hired 15 years ago.

The Answer is Spreading Hubris with Dabo's example "bad fans"
1

While there are tons of things that would have changed the outcome. That last play was a result of 2 things that have been festering with coaching and players for awhile now:
1. Hubris - Starting with Dabo's refusal / delay to adapt to change vs "the Dabo process that worked for years". - To heck with play call history, lets run it up the middle from shotgun again because it HAS to / will work this time. (the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and over but expecting a different outcome) - Star recruits being told way too often they are so good that they (alone) wear the super hero cape and take it too far.
2. Setting Bad Examples with Disrespect by theee leader - Now more than ever, every CEO knows (should know) not to attack (disrespect) their own customers, in this case fans. You never win arguments with your customers without it costing you somewhere down the road.
While we all agree that there are bad "customers" / fans with bad ideas, Dabo attacked a group he doesn't control. Worse, he got more emotional by self-destructively suggesting he (along with fans, the team, other coaches) should lose some games to weed out those that don't fully agree (bandwagon or the 1.5%) despite the fact they still cheer for Clemson, regardless of gripes.
- Players are following Dabo's disrespect and getting overly emotional / self- and team-destructive but now its aimed at the coaches, other players and perhaps the fans. We have now seen from at least 2 "superstar" players this season and have heard it straight from their mouths (e.g. eff the coaches' play calls, go rogue / keep the ball (botched handoffs)).
Dabo: learn from these painful lessons and focus on what you can control now (the team and coaches). Don't delay change until after a "Not best season", you don't need more "evidence of poor decisions or actions" or to continuously repeat things that aren't working. And only complain about fans to your wife and close friends, not in public.
Change / adapt and discipline now - set a good example!

Overly emotional people almost always focus on the superficial. The problem with the team are fundamentals. Ball control, executing plays, X’s and O’s. Nope, let’s call out the fans for not having “faith”. Let’s call out the starting QB and suggesting we lost because he didn’t want to execute dumb play again. Let’s spend more time developing our version of what a good man is than a good football player. It’s all adding up to a tragedy. This is a football program. This is a business. It’s not a home for lost souls, a church or whatever other superficial pet project one might want to intertwine and it’s translating to games being lost. The focus should be football and winning games. He’s made it clear that winning games isn’t the main concern and not even what is meant by “Best” so expecting to is foolish.

Dabo has no answers for ANYTHING. His entire program is broken and he either doesn't know how to turn it around or just doesn't care. This team has been sinking for years while Drabo keeps cashing those fat checks and polishing his old trophies. All he ever says now is gaslighting garbage about the good old days. He made this mess but all he can do is blame bandwagon fans. How about getting some RBs that can get near the goal line without fumbling the #### ball? This team flat out STINKS.

ROGUE FOR A REASON: Obviously Cade is no Trevor, and never will be, but instead of blaming him for ignoring that last play call, take a look at the play call and acknowledge that Cade thought we would have a better chance if he did an end-run. He may have been right, but he couldn’t pull it off. MY WAY OR THE HIGHWAY: As for Dabo, the man who led us to two national championships, he is no different from most other people who suddenly have wealth and power: They want to be surrounded by people who agree with them, defer to them. It’s human nature as old as humans. So, no gripin’, y’all.
NO LONGER ELITE: With the exceptions of Peter Woods on defense and Tyler Brown on offense, we no longer land elite recruits. We recruit them, as Tigernet reports, but most of them choose to go elsewhere. The SEC and Big 10 send way more players to the NFL than the ACC does. And now, the unregulated NIL collectives are promising to make college players rich if they will attend a certain school. And since a tiny percentage of college players will ever see an NFL paycheck, many of them see the NIL payday as their only shot at some big bucks. For years, the coaches made all the money. The players want some of that, too. Again, human nature.
That being the case, we will never again be able to recruit our way to ACC and CFP championships, as we did before, thanks to Dabo, one of the all-time great recruiters. Going forward, we will have to use the Portal to plug players into key positions—like wide receiver, as FSU did with Keon Coleman.
ANOTHER WAY TO USE THE PORTAL: Do what Coach Prime did in Colorado— except do it with our coaches. Dabo to his coaching staff: “Y’all need to be usin’ the portal, ‘cause I need to replace you.”
PRAISE FOR DABO: The program he created was based not just on excellence, but also on values. He wanted these kids to become young men who lived the Golden Rule. Sadly, that era is over. But as disappointed as we are now, I still think Dabo Swinney deserves a statue on our campus.

The difference is coaching Excluding Dabo 2016 coaching staff has a combined coaching experience of 216 years 2023 coaching staff has a combined coaching experience of 57 years.
The problem is frigging obvious. It's not that last play. We never should have been in overtime at all.
