All you can eat and you basically make your plate raw and then they cook what you created in front of you Mongolian style.

Also a fan of Salty Dawg Seafood in Quincy Market. They have a nice little bar off to the side where you can hit up oysters and cold beer.

was there last month and we shocked by how few people were there

several closed stores

the crowds for the entertainers were tiny

and the weather was pleasant, so it wasn't that at all

we always stay just a few blocks from there

Ill keep you in my prayers***

Nah not really. As big cities go it’s nicer than say NY or Chicago, but after that it’s just sort of a generic big city. It has the unfortunate distinction of being full of people from Boston.

The coolest thing I’ve done in Boston is the walk that takes you through all the historical sites and to the USS Constitution, very cool. The second coolest thing I’ve done there was leave town and go to Maine.

2024 orange level member flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, the walking tours of the Freedom Trail are fantastic

Our guide was hilarious and gave a lot of cool insight.

Best line as we stood at Samuel Adams' grave and he pointed at a bar across the street:

"And that, ladies and gentleman, is the only bar in America where you can enjoy a cold Sam Adams while looking at a cold Sam Adams."

“My daughter was hungry so I browned some Northern Irish ghee in a stainless sauté pan and laid a slab of heirloom starter sourdough on top. I basted the bread several times using a boars bristle brush, and finally laid a slice of organic fair trade grass fed Holstein Vermont cheddar on top, followed by another slice of basted bread. I began inverting the concoction until the fromage reached an adequate phase change, and immediately removed it from the heat, to be plated delicately with a melange of potato crisps”

“So you made her a grilled cheese?”

“No, you ruffian, can’t you read?”

It’s not my fault that some poor souls have palates that can’t tell the difference between sunbeam, country crock, and kraft American and artfully and lovingly made sourdough, aged comte, and butter from a cow that sees the sun. Is there a difference between a child’s scribbles and a Renoir? Both are just drawings, right? Or between a Nissan Altima and a Porsche 911? Both are just cars, right? Or Belle Glos and Domaine Leroy?

I am someone who appreciates the small things and the finer things in life, to live otherwise seems to me would be full of sadness and banality.

here's a few places

Bostonia public house

North St Grille

Neptune Oyster

great bakeries - Modern, Mikes, Bova... all in the N. End all with lots of good sweet stuff

totally casual (mostly take-out, but a few tables if you want a slice and a beer) pizza place Ernesto's... huge slices at very reasonable prices

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Al Dente in the North End.

Boston Sail Loft (near the aquarium, along the waterfront) for chowdah.

Harpoon Brewery if you're by Seaport for good beer and warm pretzels.

Flour Bakery + Cafe in the South End, for pastries.

Salty Pig and B&G Oysters in South End/Back Bay.

But definitely Al Dente.
