overrated in the nation. That Duke drive after the half, Carter's play alone cost us the touchdown and paved the way for the second half that was to be. Whif on one play and then fall off of a player behind the line of scrimmage for the other.

that they need to do better. But I did see a lot of slow reactions from the LBs that look like theyre thinking rather than just reacting. Im wondering if the scheme is too much to grasp like Steeles was. BV simplified and let the kids fly around with aggression.
I cant remember which drive it was in the 2H, but Trotter blitzed, had a wide open lane to the QB, and then turned to go cover a RB who had already been picked up. That, coupled with the many blown assignments by the LBs, leads me to believe its all scheme. Also, who coaches our LBs.......

Carter is a fantastic player who unfortunately plays too many snaps; our coaches need to get serious about using other ‘LB bodies’ to play on all special teams plays.
That said, Carter’s inability to bring down … or at least impair the movement for longer than a fraction of a second of … Leonard Riley was the single biggest defense disappointment of the night.
After all, this was a pre-season All American attempting the tackle, not Rudy Reuttiger.

almost not fair to grade them b/c of him. Sure Carter missed the tackle, but where were the other 10 guys. One took a bad angle and let the QB out run him. This is on coaching imo.

Not to me mention, how is that defensive recruiting going. Wes is not someone that I feel recruits are inspired to go play for. BV is.

I think he let go on purpose. He had him wrapped with both arms for a couple of seconds. Nobody else could get there to finish? With all the rules protecting qbs I assume it’s hard to judge what to do there.

We lost two first rounders off of last year’s defensive line, a unit which underwhelmed.
I know people are excited about our young talent, especially Peter Woods, but it’s ludicrous to think that this year’s group would somehow be better.
Lots of illogical conclusions and wishful thinking, which unfortunately have become commonplace here.
