Ray-Ray McCloud hopes "to grow up" after critical mistake

Ray-Ray McCloud made one of the mistakes a skill player or return man can’t make when he dropped the ball just feet from the goal line. The sophomore receiver told TigerNet after the game that he'll learn from his mistake. Full Story »

I hope he fields the punts more often myself. The two times he actually caught it, he gained 90+ yards.

Just my opinion, but the whole team ,and the coaching staff needs to "grow up".
They are behaving as if they the national championship trophy is all ready in Clemson.
Hey guys, stop listening to all the hype and start playing some freaking dang football.

Hes too good of a player to let that bother him.

Ray-Ray's a talented player and I hope he goes on to have a great career at Clemson. But I get so tired of people saying "I've learned from my mistake and won't do that again." Yes, we all make mistakes, but I don't think it's too much to expect that players actually cross the goal line before dropping the ball. Should've learned that in his first year of pee wee football.

Actually scoring is more important than looking cool.

Same thing in baseball. The batters hit drives they think are gone but only hit the outfield will. They style outside the batters box and convert a double into a single. Years ago, it would have warranted a fine, but I guess the Players Union says otherwise now. I can see past managers like Billy Martin, Earl Weaver and #### Williams getting into fights with their players over such antics.

Don't worry about the phone. Your not supposed to be on social media. Worry more about the team and scouts

There were Clemson players behind him that could have picked

it up and carried it in for a TD. My question is, what did the Troy guy do with the ball? They never showed or discussed it. Apparently he didn't run it back.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There were no other Tigers around ball, Troy player just

Sep 11, 2016, 11:46 AM

picked it up and just stood there, I think he thought it was TD too!

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

nobody on troy thought it was a fumble

No reason to bash the young man....

Sep 10, 2016, 10:29 PM

He just never should have been allowed back in the game given his performance that appeared totally self centered. No one is bigger than the team but his actions indicated eh felt otherwise.

Coach is to blame for any negative feedback on this.

Of course all of this is just an opinion, I don't make squat to coach anything!!!

Your right ray ray was the only player that seemed to catch a ball and lit the final spark in second half benching him would've made sense... I'm sure Ray ray will run enough this week to remember to finish the play

"Things were just happening so fast, blah, blah, blah..." Apparently not so fast that he forgot to celebrate what a great play he almost made!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In a way, I'm kinda glad it happened in a game like this...

Sep 11, 2016, 2:02 AM [ in reply to No reason to bash the young man.... ]

a game which we could manage to win, despite a subpar performance. Imagine if it happens for the first time in a tight game against teams like Florida State or Louisville.

Ray-Ray will learn and so many other guys. I'm pretty sure it won't ever happen again in his career or at least this season.

Ray-Ray McCloud critical mistake--Ref's Call

Sep 11, 2016, 10:40 PM

If the ref called it a touchback ( which he did ), then RayRay must have carried the ball into the end zone by definition ( which he did not do ). No wonder it took the stupid refs 7+ minutes to get it wrong!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He released the ball before crossing the goal line, thus no

Sep 12, 2016, 3:14 AM

score. The forward momentum carried the ball across the goal line, where the Troy player picked it up. Not hard to understand how it could be a touchback, though I was hoping they would spot it on the 1 foot line.

I too did not understand that. If he dropped it at the one, then why was Troy allowed to start the ensuing drive at the 20?
