Hopefully it's said over and over that we are still 8-1

Ya'll wanting to fire people is ridiculous. How many teams, including Alabama, wish they had one loss right now.
Now, don't get me wrong, last night was ugly. And, I'm concerned for DJ now. Last year, something got in his head and I'm afraid we could be back there now. If he could shake it off and get back out there, we could win out. And as much as you may think we don't belong there a one loss conference champion could still make the playoffs. Not saying we deserve it, saying we could and would ask as others lose, b/c they will, at that point who really deserves to be there.
I think some of this is on DJ. I think some is on the line. I think some is on the WRs. I do think at times, the coaches don't put us in position to win. I don't think they let DJ do what he is capable of and he plays scared. But that's all my opinion. I think we have all the pieces to be a great team, but I think ALL of our pieces including coaches have to get better.

smoke and mirrors 8-1, just like last year was a smoke & mirrors 10-3.
The REAL ISSUES get masked by this conference..........back in 2015-2018 we would BLOW TEAMS OUT (sans 2-3) we haven't truly done that in 2 years, THAT'S when you know something's up with our team/program.

You don’t get to 8-1 with smoke and mirrors.

Now we could lose more but I think it would be because dj was broken again last night as he was be Georgia. If he could bounce back, I think we are a one loss te.

It’s certainly not all on dj. But I do think when you don’t let him run the offense to his full extent, pull him, put him back in, and he makes mistakes too then he loses confidence. Not saying it’s all on Him but when he lacks confidence it compounds the problem. I’ll just have to disagree with you about the other. A bad team doesn’t win 8 games in a row.

We got to 8-1 by being significantly more talented than our opponents.

Notre Dame is the only team we have played this year that is comparable to us in football funding, facilities, and talent level. And they kicked our butt.
We shouldn’t be struggling with Wake Forest, Syracuse, and NC State. Those teams have nowhere close to the talent we have. They don’t have the facilities we have. They don’t spend nearly as much on football as we do.
The last time we beat a team on our level was the 2019 Fiesta Bowl against Ohio State. Since then, we haven’t really been impressive.
Our talent, especially at key positions like QB, covered up for subpar coaching. Dabo’s poor hires in the last couple of years have further compounded the problem. Now we are seeing the effects of that.

Make no mistake, it is time for a change

At OC and DC. We were completely outcoached. We could have had the Bills entire roster and lost last night. If you can’t see that then nothing will change your mind. Last night was a WV moment . I am hoping Dabo will put his hubris aside and make the tough but right decisions.

I think Dabo is the real OC here or at least he’s calling a lot of the plays. That’s part of the reason he emphasizes the Defensive shortcomings.
And because he’s the OC, making that change won’t be so easy.

the other games too, have you not watched us??
I remember when we were 8-3 with Hatfield and sucked. We could have been 7-2 EASILY. The ACC is just awful.

a huge fan like me, and I respect your opinion.
But I have been on the fence with Wes. I was coming along with Streeter because I saw some nice wrinkles thrown in a few games, and DJ was developing.
That's all off the table, and I think the OC and DCs need to be replaced. But that's not the only thing. We need to look at recruiting - especially at WR and RB- and think about the transfer portal.
I completely understand if you disagree, but just my 2 cents.

All knowing. I agree with the rb and wr thing. I don’t understand why we can’t ever to get that back. Etienne was that guy. We—we missed in a class for sure we all thought Ladson and ngata would fill that role. Ladson gone and ngata has moments but not a ton of them. Then classes since then have not been amazing. We are no longer wru. Ngata also doesn’t have Deshaun or Trevor throwing it to him. Trevor and Deshaun were good enough to make a line look better than they really were. Watkins and Hopkins were good enough to make qbs looks better than they really were. We don’t have anyone so talented that it makes up for other mistakes. As for our d. Good points. Where is that shutout? With BV we got them every now and then. But I also think in games like last night, there is no way your d can stay in there and win every down when your offense is inept and not on the field very long.

Top recruits come to play for coaches who will get them to the next level. If you watch our offense right now and are a top OL/WR/RB, you probably aren't coming to Clemson. Same thing on defense.
Whether he wants to admit it or not, Dabo needs to make the coaching changes and get some high-profile coordinators to join him who can attract top-level talent. It is no surprise to me that as our talent falls off, so do our results.

It’s not just about last night though. We’ve been regressing for years.
2018: 15-0 2019: 14-1 2020: 10-2 2021: 10-3 2022: 8-1
We aren’t an elite team anymore. Changes have to be made. Streeter was the passing game coordinator in 2020 and 2021. He’s the OC this year. The offense has gotten worse under his watch. Our WRs have gotten worse under Grisham. It’s time for them to go.

Dabo isn't adapting to the changing college football landscape and making poor personal decisions. I think that's not even debatable at this point.
I really hope to be eating my words, though.

It really does feel like Dabo has become complacent given his current contract. He made changes in the past because his job was on the line. He fired Napier and hired Chad from Tulsa. He fired Steele and hired Brent from OU. Mike Reed came from NC State. Dan Brooks came from Tennessee. Robbie came from Vanderbilt. Marion Hobby came from Duke. Now that he has job security, he doesn’t feel the need to make changes, unless they are from within, or people he knows personally.
Spiller, Grisham, Richardson, Hall, Goodwin, and Conn had no prior experience as on the field college coaches before Clemson. Thomas Austin was at Georgia State for 2 years. Streeter was a D2 coach. The coaching staff just isn’t that good anymore.
If Streeter left for a G5 HC job, I honestly believe like Dabo would promote Richardson to OC and hire Tajh as the QB coach. That’s how bad things have gotten.

Reading this is depressing
Nov 6, 2022, 9:48 AM
|

and not because it isn't 100% accurate.
I think may need to find some pumpers to make me feel better; we don't lack them, thank God.
But seriously, though, I would be fine with anyone he hired if the results are there. They are not, and it doesn't look any better next year. People will just lazily point to an 8-1 record and listen to Dabo say, "winning is hard" all day.
Next year is going to be where the rubber meets the road. I can't even name a decent starting DE and the year after that, Keith Adams will be our featured back.

It’s going to be real bad next year.
RBs: Shipley, Mafah, then three nobodies WRs: Beaux, Antonio, Randall, then nobodies and freshmen TE: Brinny, Sage, last resort, two freshmen
It’s so sad to see how bad our skill players are now.
DE: Swint, Patterson, Lawson, freshman DT: Page, Capehart, Story, freshmen DT: Tre, Reuben, freshmen DE: Denhoff, Greg, freshmen
Not a single elite player. We’ll have 5 DEs that haven’t been factors, followed by true freshmen that have to be ready to go. Page and Tre are good, but Reuben, Capehart, and Story have been non-factors. We’ll need those true freshmen to be ready to go as well. That’s where we are now lol.

I can't believe I am reading posts like "it's not so bad, I remember the West days." Unbelievable.
I remember the Danny, Hatfield, West, and Bowden days too, so what?
We didn't pay West 11 million dollars a year to hire his buddies.

I’m no football guru like the rest of you, but it seemed towards end of game when we scored two td’s, coaches were letting DJ do what he does best. The beginning of the game not so much! It seemed ND had much more fire than we did and wanted it more. Their qb was not nearly as good as some we’ve beaten. It seemed they had more effort than us. I’m not saying this is what happened.. it just seemed like that to me. I love my Tigers .. have been IPTAY since 1978 so I’ve seen a lot of bad and good. I’ve stuck with the Tigers and won’t change.

I think dj had the reins released they got in up tempo and he was in a rhythm. But you do have to recognize that ND was in prevent. No longer caring if we score as much as just making sure we didn’t score as fast.

I think this next game will tell you all you need to know. If Louisville comes into our house and breaks us down as ND did then all excuses go out the window. A good team will figure it out and recover from a couple of bad games. A team that is lost will drop the next one. We will find out which one we are on Saturday.
