It's always been, and it will always be that humans will add unnecessary the sky is falling pressure on themselves and to whoever will listen to all of their what if's!!! What if it's this way, what if it's that way, what if, what if, what if!!!! The media will drive those what if's even harder with their planned set up questions to get the type of response they were looking for. Good news don't sell, and as soon as a vaccine is working, they will pack up their microphones to look for another story and fill it with their drama!!!

Worst case scenario
Mar 31, 2020, 2:31 PM
|
|
And I mean worst case is....once the quick 5 minute test becomes available, you could have every player, support person, officials, tv broadcast crew etc. take the test the morning of the game. Pass the test you are in. Play the games to empty stadiums but broadcast the games. Like I said, worst case scenario, I hope!

This is actually best case scenario because you're assuming that we'll have millions of tests available in 5 months for "asymptomatic testing", which means we have an overwhelming surplus of tests available to the public. I hope this is the case, but this certainly isn't "worst case scenario"

It's still early

As of this post, it's still March. It's still too early to know how things will be in August. BUT, we have to start bracing for the possibility that there won't be football this fall. It's looking more and more like summer workouts are going to be affected. If so, you wonder what role that will play in prepping the players for fall camp.
Again, it's still too early to predict anything but it feels like more of a possibility now than it was 2-3 weeks ago.

"There better be a season or..."

What an idiotic comment. If there isn't a season, it will be for reasons more important than college football. Goodness.

So does this mean that it really is about the average fan in the seat and not the "premium" customers?

We all hope there is a season but college athletics will probably have to make some huge structural adjustments to deal with things just like everything else.
Probably a lot of non-sports fans who want things blown to pieces.

So many issues and who knows what will happen. What we do now can make a big difference if we are to slow down the spread and reduce the frequency of contact. Keep in mind neither a vaccine (which won't help for the fall in any realm of possibility) or testing are what the issue is. Testing only shows who has the disease, NOT who is spreading it. You can test every player but may have had someone else with COVID-19 rub the rock prior to running down the hill and potentially expose every player on both teams. Fans or no fans you have to protect the players. Lets get this out of the population by slowing spread so we can move forward!
