Pacific time zone properties. Might be worth more now than they were before.

The problem with the ACC's contract

and could be very wrong, but I understood it that any teams added to the ACC will only dilute our current amount paid out to the conference.
Said differently, adding team to the conference does: - Not allow those teams to make the same as current schools are making, nor... - It would not even open an opportunity to renegotiation.
Again, I could be wrong but that's the impression I got reading an article last week when it was said we were in talks with PAC 12 schools, until the ACC realized adding schools would only dilute the total pot by school.

I think there is a bump but it is based on the market value of the school. So of the two schools are worth $40M combined, then ESPN would pay the ACC an additional $40M per year. The ACC could be offering a half share so they would break even. If the ACC is offering a full share (which I doubt), then the payout for all the other teams would be less.

There are multiple pieces to the puzzle though

1. Adding teams allows for a revaluation of all current teams according to the composition clause. Like Real estate, other teams have sold for more recently so the ACC's appraisal will go higher.
2. ACC network distributed at full price to California. This is probably a bigger money maker than the schools relative inherent value.
3. Cal and Stanford would be ESPNs only Pacific Time Zone properties. If we are actually pushing ESPN for max revenue (highly doubtful), We are adding significant value to them and should be worth more that just the local market report.
Just thoughts. I may be way off base.

Again I have no words. Day late and dollar short ACC arrives just in time to pick up the worst teams in the Pac 12. I guess they finally came out of their drug induced fog in Basketball land, and just notice everybody else was expanding. Only they are three weeks too late to get anyone worth a $%$%.

It’s off that folks complained Phillips was doing nothing and are now complaining when he is doing something.

I have no time for poor leadership. Yes I complained when he was doing nothing months ago when everyone else was making moves. He should have been doing this long before. Now instead of being in the mix for decent programs he swoops in and snags two real gems in Stanford and Cal. POOR LEADERSHIP. Now we will make less money than before. He was banking on his "unbreakable" contract and when the "unsinkable" ship started going down he got desperate. This was a "I don't know what I'm doing so I will just do... this" move. No I am not happy and would never be happy with that kind of leadership.
