Brad vs. the ACC, Chase Hunter's legacy

I must be going crazy, but it's starting to look to me like Brad is among the cream of the crop in the ACC. I expected the conference schedule to be a slog, but at this point another 14-6 year looks possible. Maybe even better. Miami stinks, GT stinks, UVA stinks, UNC is maybe not good? Syracuse? VTech? Who is better than Brad's team outside of Duke? Maybe Louisville? To quote heisman trophy winner Lamar Jackson, "This crazy."
Still have some concerns about this team's depth. Big game against Pitt, who might actually be a quality opponent, coming up . . . but after the road game this weekend, the Tigers have a shot at winning the next four before they face off against UNC and Duke, which would put them at 10-2 in conference play. Again, Lamar: "This crazy."
One last thought to ponder . . . if Clemson somehow made another deep run in the NCAAT, what would that mean for Chase Hunter's legacy? Will that kid get the respect he deserves? Of all the players to come through Clemson basketball over the last 20 or so years, there might not be anyone I'd rather see win than Chase. I consider him an all-time great.

Duke, Louisville, and PITT are better right now than we are. Not sure the ACC will get 4 teams in. I would love to beat PITT, but dont see it right now. We have to take care of the ball and avoid scoring droughts or we will lose by 10+ up there.

Pitt does have a tough turnaround. Have to play at FSU tonight at 9pm. Not going to get back to their campus probably till like 2am or later, and then less than two days to play the Tigers at noon on Saturday. I think the ACC will at least get 4 if not 5, and at most 6 teams to Dance. Key thing is get that double buy and finish in top 4 in ACCT.

If you think the ACC has a prayer at 5, much less 6, teams in the tournament you do not follow college basketball in any meaningful way. The ACC is completely ####### busted and is today a 3 bid league with an absolute ceiling of 4 bids.

Lunardi spent the whole year saying we were a three bid league last year.

bubble. No one had NC State, but they played their way in to get to our 5 (assuming I remember the total number correctly).
Not sure if your comment is to discredit him or not. But the reality is he's usually pretty accurate in the end, and on trends in his bi-weekly updates.

His projections are always as if the season ended today. But you can do some forward projecting. While we might arguably have 7 teams potentially in the field that’s partly because the top teams haven’t played each other a bunch. Today was about as poorly as the 2nd half of the conference season could have gone for the ACC. There are currently only 4 safe ins which I continue to think is the upper boundary. Something will have to go horrifically wrong for Clemson or Louisville to fall out of the field but with the conference as bad as it is that isn’t as remote a possibility as it might seem. Assuming Clemson and Louisville don’t make it interesting for themselves there is really only room for one more team to assert themselves as a safe in or for several teams to continue to swap places in the last in / last out bubble.

And you said this.... why should anybody take you seriously?
He should seize the opportunity to bow out on a high note because the blowback next season will make Tommy Bowden losing to Wake Forest look like Tommy Bowden beating Tennessee

Didnt you say multiple times last year that nctigs was one of the best and most knowledgeable posters on the board?
Nc tigs has actually proven to be a true basketball fan, and you have been exposed as a biased hater.

Pitt is not better than we are. We had a bad night in a hostile environment vs Louisville. If that game were played in Littlejohn, we win. We only shot 5 free throws to their 20. This is a tournament team by a mile.

I think 4 in are a given. Duke, Clemson, and Louisville are in. One from Pitt, SMU, or Wake Forest probable.

Wow who resurrected this 3 week ago old thread? Folks around here will call you out for that. 👀
PITT, Louisville and Duke?
I’d say we neutered PITT and Louisville, while awesome this year, seems to have returned to reality.
Duke is the cream of the crop. We’ll have our shot.
Lot of season left, but please continue to enlighten us. Our luck against top 5 teams is gonna run out at some point.

Chase is great based on this year, his 6th(?).
For me, to be an all time great, you have to be great for more than a single year.
Last year, until the NCAA tournament, he was extremely streaky. He couldn't get to the basket or create his own shot and the offense sometimes stalled with long droughts and that should get blamed on the guards.
I hope he keeps it up and has a long pro career somewhere.
I doubt he's an NBA talent but he could easily play 10+ years in Europe.
Interesting that he is finally putting it all together in his 6th year. Not sure he'd have any pro future after his first 4 years.

Maybe he is a little streaky, but seems to me he’s put the team on his back countless times throughout his career, not just this year. If we go far in the tournament again, he’ll be a more accomplished clemson basketball player than just about anyone.

Brad has always been a really good coach and now that he is getting better players, the results are better. Isn't it funny how having better players in any sport turns into better results?

Has Brownell improve our program that much or has the ACC regressed as a conference? Embrace the power of "AND". I think Brownell has done a good job over the past few seasons building a core group that we could plug in around. Losing a major key like PJ Hall and still performing at this level is reloading not rebuilding. Zackery for Gerardi was also a key replacement. Next year will tell the tale. We will lose several 6 year SRs and will need to backfill more than two positions. Wiggins still seems lost at times even though he's a junior. The athleticism is there but something is missing...Bball IQ or confidence? I don't see the ACC getting 6 in and won't be surprised if we don't get 5. Duke is the front runner but I see Clemson, Pitt and Louisville as being interchangeable as far as who will finish second. Any of these three get a hot streak and they can make a run. Any of them face a key injury and they could fall.

We got in 4 last year and the conference is even worse. 8 of our remaining 13 games are against teams with a NET of 90 or below. We will likely finish the season with a max of 6 quad one games playing in the ACC. It’s pathetic.
