If they do then we need to -
- Buy a dump truck - Fill it with money - Back it up to his front door

No way. He would not be fired, just be forced into retirement.

Honestly, if he was younger, I would take the chance but not at this stage of his career.

Sure there’s similarities, but I think we’d need to take a slightly different approach. I mean let’s analyze what the coots did with Spurrier -
Where it worked - - Spurrier knew how to run a successful program and had credibility… this helped bring in better players, they made it to the SEC championship, and like it or not but they were in the BCS conversations
Where it failed - - He stayed too long and they made a poor follow up hire. Had they cut ties before his decline they would’ve had better athletes, a better brand, and more to sell kids on. Instead they went like 3-8 in his last year and brought in a replacement who had a history of losing.
Izzo would be a great hire but it would need to come with some common sense and realistic expectations for what we need him to accomplish.

I was mostly joking 🙂
If he’s still motivated to coach I wouldn’t have a problem with it. He’s a proven winner.

It would not be a popular opinion, but...

Will Wade, a Clemson alum, would jump at the chance to coach at Clemson. What he accomplished at McNees State is remarkable (going from 11-23 last year to 31-3 this year). Does he come with a bit of baggage? Sure, but now that paying players is totally permissible, that would no longer be a problem.

Fair
The cheating when it was illegal would be a big thing for me personally to look past… But I see your points and it’s worth the discussion.

I'd be in favor of having a conversation with Will. The man can coach. There is no denying that.

Question, how does Wade's 2 year show cause affect his ability to get another job? It doesn't expire until 2025. He wasn't hit with that, officially, until after he had been hired by McNeese.

It doesn't. The recruiting restrictions follow him, but he already served his game suspension and one year of recruiting restrictions that you could attempt to side-step with transfers anyway is probably worth it if you think he's the right guy for the job.

Honestly can't say I've heard of someone that would jump at the chance to coach Clemson basketball - got a source on this?
I get he's got a connection but is this an actual valid take or simply speculation?

He's been a pretty consistent ladder climber at every step and Clemson is definitely a step up from McNeese St. Couple that with him being an Alum and it would be very surprising if he would not take the Clemson job if offered.
He has some show cause limitations that don't fully expire until after next season, but they're recruiting limitations that could be relatively easily side-stepped via transfers in the current state of basketball/college sports.

and, even if he wants to coach again somewhere, I can't imagine that place would be Clemson.

No way.
Clemson needs a coach with energy, younger with some fire, ability to motivate, relate and inspire.
Clemson Basketball needs a Dabo-esque coach. They need someone who wants to be here and "bloom where planted" versus look to bounce up to a better program in 6 years.

Offer Steph Curry $100 million - a Carolina guy. Who wouldn't come play for him.

Sure, agreed, Dabo’s amazing… but guys like that are unicorns
Can you name one coach had those traits, started young, stayed in one place the whole time, and grew their program into consistent tournament team?

Ha that’s a great point… personally I think they go after Jeff Capel, Pitts Coach
If I was then he’d be #1 on my short at least

Can you think of any ACC coaches that beat Pitt twice this year? Us and Syracuse. And what is Capel's record this year? 21-10
Parallel move that doesn't get us better than 21-11.

Oh no, I don’t think Capel would fit here, nor do I want him as our coach… if we’re being honest, Pitt to Clemson would be a step down for him anyways
What I’m saying is that I think Michigan State would want Capel
